Pours amber / orange with tan head.
Aroma / taste, plenty of dark fruits.
Anything to like from the yeasty signature of a good strong Belgian ale to the smoothness of the fruits on palate, coupled with the nice aroma and feel of the caramel malts.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2006 Aroma leans toward caramel malts, sweetbreads, rum-raisin, spice, candy sugar and white fruits..pear and apple. Color is a dark red/brown and the head is a firm, creamy two finger thick tan beauty. Flavor is moderately spicy with sweet malts and candy sugar some hints of toffee and apples. Mouthfeel is somewhat thinner than anticipated. The flavor concentration could be higher, but it has a good flavor range. travita (2146), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aromas are of licorice and other spices. Slightly alcoholic bite. Malty strong with some spice flavors. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 2, 2006 Not sure how old the botlle was I had, it seemed like it had a bit of age on it. Pours dark hazy brown with a nice brown head. Aromas had earthy creamy toffee with some anise - very rich and dessert-like. Medium to full bodied beer with lots of soft carbonation delivering the flavors well. Taste has caramel malt, earthy yeast and lots of creaminess. Anise comes out on the finish as some sourness, some hoppy bitterness and earthy Belgium yeast. Alcohol is very well hidden in this one. Nice Belgium winter ale. mkobes (2107), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 3, 2006 bottle at Fort Wayne tasting - Pours cloudy brown with a huge head that leaves some good lacing. It smells of malt, yeast, and some mild spice. The taste is moderately sweet with the yeast and spices putting in another appearance. It’s good, but did seem a little lacking in flavors to me.
