Commercial Description:
Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Body is black as any stout I have seen. The light orange and brown head has some large bubbles. The aroma is the typical barrel aged vanilla and some dark plums. There is also a little bit of sweet and cheap Christmas chocolate candy. The taste has cocoa, coffee and a little hint of oak. There is also a bit of citrus that is almost soapy from the hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is greasy and thick. This si not subtle in any way. You have to sit up and take notice of the massive body and coffee flavor. However, the beer comes together very nicely after you take a few drinks. Recieved the bottle in a trade with Kevin. Thanks a lot.

Bottle that I’ve been sitting on for a year or so. This was one of my favorite imperial stouts before I found RB, but I haven’t had one in about two years, so I’m hoping my fond memories hold up. Pours a clear viscous black with a thick mocha head. Big chocolate and dark fruit, rich malt, caramel, roast. Medium bodied, smooth, loads of roast and bitter cocoa. Really tasty. Long warming alcohol, smooth chocolate mousse, bitter cocoa. As tasty as I remember.

Blueberry and dark chocolate nose. Black viscous pour, medium brown head, decent lacing. Charred oak, blackberry, and blueberry flavor, with subtle pine notes. Bark, celery, oak, and pine finish. Immaculate balance. Not quite as good as the chocolate aged version, but still a top tier beer. Absolutely delicious!

Tasted in comparison with the regular yeti. Thick motor oil pour with the same maroon brown head as the regular yeti, body is still dark brown/black. Aroma is great, more complex than the regular yeti with a greater emphasis on the coffee malt element. Some chocolate is also apparent, some slightly smoky woody elements are also apparent. Body is thick and flavor is bitter. The oak is very apparent in the flavor, complements the malt/coffee flavors very well. Almost a smokey campfire-esk flavor. Tastes wonderful. Overall a delicious offering from Great Divide. Oak aging builds upon the complexity of this brew though does at times dominate over the more subtle malt sweetness. After further tasting the oak acidity takes away from the beer, while still tasty, it becomes more difficult to drink. A unique take on the style but perhaps too much with the oaking.

Growler. Pours Dark Brown/Black with creamy tan head that lingers. Aroma of roasted coffee. A smooth, creamy feel. A nice malty backbone with a hint of milk chocolate. Very well done.

Bomber from the local. Pour is black as a desert night. The thick coffee colored head reduces to a thin plateau of a couple rings. Bangin aroma of milk chocolate, coffee, wood, and vanilla. Flavors are much the same, Chocolate, vanilla, with some coffee bitterness in the finish.

Aroma of chocolate, coffee, some hints of vanilla. Appears a deep dark brown. Taste is oak at first but followed by bittersweet chocolate and coffee and vanilla. Overall, this beer meets the hype.

Heavenly this yeti is....and i’m not even a stout guy but this brew deserves it’s credit...creamy mouth, the flavor just ridiculous chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla with a lovely hop backround and can forget the oak finish...top stout so far...
