Commercial Description:
In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

nice dark brown with thick frothy dark tan head. heavy aroma of intense dark fruit -- dried cherries, prunes, raisins -- and lots of alcohol, with a deep roasty sweetness and mild spice. also lots of chocolate milk. flavor is similar -- like a spiced cherry/strawberry chocolate milk. silky medium body, nice carbonation. as it warms the aroma deepens to a strong wine with roasty coffee and cinnamon. this is the best.

A dark and even for Belgian beers rather sweet beer. The taste is full of raisins, dark prune and burned notes. It’s smooth and gentle and might go well with some (not too sweet) dessert.

A beautiful one. So dense and velvety. It is syrupy sweet and delicius. It is remind me of nutwine. The nose is fantastic. Dark fruits ans spices smells. It slips into the groove without difficulty. Very delicate body.

Beer at its best. Aroma is a complex sweet one with spices, caramel, chocolate, coffee, raisin, and a slight sense of vanilla. Pours with a nice tanned head and ruby, brownish color. Tastes medium sweet, almost like a dessert beer. Medium body with creamy texture and a well-balanced carbonation. Overall my favorite, and will be hard to beat. A well deserved Thank you goes to De Struise Brouwers.

33cl bottle vintage 2007. Gusher. Deep black color with a creamy brown head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is full of dried fruits with malts and some touches of pepercake and bread. Taste is sweet and malty with chocolate, coffee and touches of dried fruits and hops. The aftertaste is light bitter with some sweet pepercake and coffee. Mouthfeel is smooth and sticky with decent carbonization. The flavors are perfectly balanced. The mother of one of the greatest beer series in the world! Magnificent!

This is the 2008 vintage. Pours dark brown, almost black with one inch tan head that fades at a decent pace. Nose is amazing, complex dark malt with deep, vinous, dried fruits, some chocolate and coffee, bready malt, and some spices, light rum notes and a light oak character with mild soy sauce and light alcohol. In the mouth, deep fruits, caramel sweetness with some bitter chocolate on the swallow and a light, lingering sweetness and a mild tingling burn on the tongue. This is an incredible beer, though I prefer the Grand Reserva.

Én éppen a "Maláta" antológiát olvasgatom mellette. /

The color is very brown almost black. The head is creamy and rather modest. The sweet aroma offers hard roasted malt and plums. In the taste there are notes of hard roasted malt, plums, sourish berries, banana, liquorice and a little touch of forest floor. The alcohol gives a rounded warmth like with a good sherry. The mouthfeel is soft and very full-bodied. This is nothing but worldclass. Pannepot is fully up to the hights of westvleteren 12.
