As ST observes there was a very distinct sweet, resinous, US style hop aroma. Fruity malt and toffee in the flavour, with the hops persisting to maintain the balance. Clean finish. Not too sticky. Quite impressive. Cask (gravity dispense) at Peterborough Beer Festival.

JDW’s tasting notes declare this is ’brewed in the style of a Belgian Triple.’ Orange amber with a small white head. Malty aroma. Initial sweetness in the taste is soon replaced by a delightful grainy background and a sharp hoppy finish. Good half (because they won’t serve you a pint thanks to the high ABV). | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 9, 2007 (Cask at GBBF, London, 9 Aug 2007) Copper colour with brief beige head. Malty nose with notes of dried fruit and citrussy hops, rather sweet and a bit closed. Malty taste with tropical fruit and honey, slightly vinous but seductively easy to drink despite the high alcohol level. Full body, rather sweet and slightly syrupy mouthfeel. A bit too sweet for me, but very warming. oh6gdx (9612), Vasa, Finland

Aroma is quite much alcohol along with some grassyness and slight fruityness. Flavour is sweet fruits, some alcohol and bitterness. Amber, thin beige head. Good barley wine aroma, it is a bit sweet, but you’d expect that, intense toffee and grapefruit. It’s a good barley wine, takes you to a cloudy, fluffy, cotton wool world. Peppery hop. Hot alcohol. Some nice toffee. Great effect.
