Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

12 oz. bottle. Black, but with a ruby tinged border, and a medium light brown head, so-so lace. Chocolate and mild coffee are no surprise in an aroma that is pretty average for an imperial stout. Creamy mouthfeel is pleasant enough, with a medium body and light carbonation. Flavor is pretty nice overall with some burnt caramel sweetness and some balance courtesy of a spicy and peppery bitterness. Finishes dry without harshness. Easy going, drinkable, but not stellar.

Bottle. Aroma of malt, coffee, alcohol, nuts and a bit of corn. A little strange. Palate features light carbonation and a full body. Finishes long. Flavors are dominated by a velvety chocolate mixture, both milk and dark chocolates. Initial flavors also include some dark fruit – perhaps raisins or dates, and coffee. Flavors then evolve to include more alcohol and chocolate, perhaps lightening on the fruit flavor. Finish remains sweet, with a bit more alcohol showing through. Because of the sweetness, this is really a dessert beer. For its relatively low (8%) alcohol, a surprising amount of it could be detected throughout the palate.

LIght coffiesh aroma with a fruity background and accompanied by a dark pour with a decent tan head. Flavor has a bittersweet dark fruit at the onset finishing with a roasted coffee taste.

nice malt aroma that envisions quality flavors of wood and chocolate. moderate flavors are appealing. alcohol type sting of a taste is appropriate for beer. perhaps a one beer wonder it is still quite a good beer indeed. nice refined sweetness slick creaminess and its brown cap delivers on it’s promise as it rolls heartily into my glass. hops enhance a quality stout and is visionary.

Pours a deep dark brown almost black. Minimal aroma of malts, coffee and chocolate. No head. Hints of coffee, chocolate, malts and some molasses make up the taste. Too light to be considered creamy and light for an imperial stout.

Nice chocolate notes in nose. Light toasted grain, some coffee. Nice looking, very dark pour, tan head, stays around, decent lacing. Oily mouthfeel, light tingly carbonation. Rich feel to the palate. But not as rich as a typical imperial stout.

355mL into snifter. Pours a light brown coming out of the bottle (ummmm) but looks pretty black in the glass. Certainly not jet black. Huge, creamy tan head that has good retention and leaves spotty lacing. Aroma is fruity with red apples, some rotting bananas. Oh yeah, milk chocolate, chocolate milkshake, vanilla extract and whiskey booziness in there. Taste is roasty, milk chocolaty with malted milk balls and vanilla ice cream. Great palate: oily mouthfeel. Yummy but a little lackluster. Blind tasting this I would put this as a cacao vanilla stout. Like a mediocre effort at reproducing DdC Aphrodisiaque. It is clean, simple, easy to drink. But a little boring.

Pours a black color with a small brown head. aroma is roasted malts, coffee, and semi sweet choco. flavor is decent and very much the same. seems like in most IS the flavor and aroma are very similar.
