Commercial Description:
Inspired by local artist & roaster Michael Allen's eccentricly-named blend of coffee beans, Midnight Sun's brewers designed a beer recipe and infusion process that perfectly captures the alluring aroma, satisfying flavor and curious legend of Allen's Arctic Rhino Coffee. Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter combines two quintessential Pacific Northwest favorites: coffee and ale. The result is wonderfully romantic and robust--a duel-fueled porter that melds charismatic dark malt with freshly roasted coffee beans. The (un)rest is up to you.

22, capped. Thanks, BitBucket! Black. Dense, creamy tan head. Solid sheets of lace. Big sour dark roasty coffee nose. Rich, creamy medium body. Active carb. Rich chocolate and coffee on the mid-palate--a coffee bomb, in fact, but very pleasantly so. Light sour coffee finish.

22oz bottle. Very dark brown with a medium-small tan head. Looks porterish. Coffee permeates both the aroma and flavor, with a creamy smoothness and nutty, sweet maltiness. Touch smokey and roasty in the malt department as well. Medium bodied and a little fizzy. Very good at working the iced coffee blueprint, with just enough sweetness from the malt to round out the finish and cut the bitterness that seems to mostly come from coffee and grain, and barely from hops. Tasty, though the malt is overshadowed by the coffee to a degree.

Poured from bomber, courtesy of SamGamgee. Darkest of browns, with small tan head. Nose was a blend of coffee, chocolate, and toasted malt. Taste was like ice coffee, bitter with just a touch of sweetness. Medium light bodied beer, a bit on the lively side.

Black with a fizzy tan head. Big coffee aroma with nice hints of chocolate and a very pleasant iced coffee taste. I forgot that I was drinking a beer and not coffee. Well done.

Can’t believe I never rated this before now! Colour... black with a thin an head. Nose... bitter, day-old coffee. Palate... a quick coffee slap then it dwindles rapidly. Thin body and lingering coffee flavours, but not much else.

Bomber from the now defunct Liquid Solutions. Excellent appearance: black in color with a massive tan head that never goes away. I had this during the Super Bowl and some d-bag at the party asked, "What is that, a mochaccino?" I told him that no, it was a real beer, gesturing toward the Miller Lite can in his hand. Aroma is lots of roast and coffee along with maybe some slight oxidative notes. Flavor is pretty good but doesn’t have all that much going on. Sharp, bitter roasted malt and coffee really stand out. There is a little cardboard/oxidation going on. Maybe this bottle is past prime - I’ll have to try it again. Medium-bodied with some coffee bitterness and perhaps a little more carbonation than would be ideal. Pretty good beer, but not impressive in the context of other Midnight Sun offerings.

Courtesy of After4ever, thanks Tom. This one floods out of the bottle, and even after pouring a glass it keeps going quite a while. It’s black with a huge and lasting head. The aroma has notes of coffee, roasted malt, light chocolate and the flavour has a light sweetness and notes of bitter coffee, roasted malt, licorice and the finish is dry and roasted bitter. I wish it had a fuller body and was a bit more mellow.

no justice, no peace ..don’t trust the police .. . dark, beautiful roast level .. . nice foam .. . odd off putting aftertaste .. . stoked to try .. . would be perfect if it wasn’t for that strange back taste .. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning Mr. McCracken’s already there.

22 oz bomber. Black with a large, medium-brown head that is long lasting. Nose is initially a fruity citric punch but quickly replaced by sweet roasted coffee, charred wood, bittersweet cocoa and a long molasses end. Moderately sweet flavor initially, turning mildly bitter and just a touch salty. Carbonation is lively, with a light-to-medium body, slightly oily texture and lightly bitter bakers chocolate finish. Rather light on the hops and chocolate for my tastes, but I still really enjoyed it. A big thanks to gator2683 for setting a bottle aside for me and sending down to Illinois by way of a courier.
