Flavor starts with a hit of crisp hops, then rounds with toasty malt, some soft nutty qualities, and a mildly bitter finish. A surprising amount of subtlety packed into this beer. Very sessionable. beersearcher (414), Glendale, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 3, 2009 On tap at Lucky Baldwins. Color was a dull auburn. Aroma smells unique for the style; sweet, fruit, sugar and flowers. Flavor of grape juice, bread with not much hopping. Hint of flavors. Ok, but not a whole lot of great flavor. A bit watery. One of the darkest pale ales I think I’ve seen. This offers a nice bouquet and body of poppyseed, apple, and floral notes. A palatte that’s really quite simple but somehow full. Very, very nice.
