(Draught) At the brewpub. Described as an Imperial Pilsner, this beer has kick, body and looks. I was very impressed with the malty flavours covering the orange and peach undertones. Extremely well balanced. Lovely colour and deserving of a second sample - which I had!

In short: A very big pilsner that remains just as drinkable as a good regular pilsner. Excellent
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy dark golden body topped by a off-white ring of foam
In long: Nose is like smelling a hay stack. A whole lot of malt in this one. Crunchy honeyed cereals abound. Sweetness is rather well balanced by a hefty amount of slightly spicy grassy hops with a light tree bark character. I still don’t think an Imperial Pilsner is a great idea but this one is the exception to the rule. Unlike most Imperial Pilsner this one remains as highly drinkable as an excellent regular pilsner except that it’s bigger and more intense. An example of excellence for this sub-type. …and on the seventh day God was hangover.

Nice golden color with a white medium head. Impressive aroma of spicy hops and malt. Great, explosive flavor of malt and spicy hops. Bitter finish. Very full body, medium carbonation. What is nice is that you don’t feel the alcohol even if it’s 7,5%. Excellent, well balanced beer.

Hop/malt in the aroma, orange, with a small vanilla custard head. Highly malted flavour, strong presence of hops, fruity. Full bodied, well balanced, very good bitterness. Wonderful!

(Rating #173)

Pour is orangey amber with a thin off white head...smell is malty sweet but yeast and hops came out as it warmed...taste was sweet biscuity malt and a sweet alcohol finish...syrupy sweet...

07.09.05, 07.11.05 Tap at brewpub. Nearly red-orange pour with fleeting white head. Yeasty aroma, some alcohol presence but not burning. Body is quite thin but oily. Fruity. Short finish. Missing some bitter or grassy hops, etc. It’s a big time brew with a small time flavor, whatever that means?

Draft at Mondial 2005. Very hoppy aroma with citrus notes present. Perhaps I can smell some nobles and Saaz with some boozy undertones as well. I detect a tad of sulfur as well. Moderately hazy orange-honey color with an off-white head. Quite sweet to start with honey notes turning more grainy and quite cereal like. More sweetness in the finish. Moderately cloying. Alcohol is hidden well.
