| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Excitingly average, but good. 22 oz. brown bomber bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a deep chocolate brown with red highlights. Aromas are of espresso beans with some roasted malts mixed in. Some chocolate aromas as well. Flavors are of a chocolate stout mixed with coffee. Not much in the way of hops.
Decent mouthfeel, kind of slick. Finished somewhat dry. Decent beer overall, but nothing to write home about. bigrond (1065), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 10, 2005 a decent brew. Pales next to other complex, hearty stouts. Flavor is pretty good, aroma okay- well everything is okay, just okay. If your drinking this try alesmith or northcoast old rasputin. brentfeesh (1056), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2006 Enjoyed with John and Jen at the club. 22 oz bottle. Pours chestnut brown. Clear and dark with no head. Thin coffee and chocolate aroma (mostly coffee), but gets slight floral hints as it warms (can only assume this is hop presence). The flavor is clearly coffee dominated but not in any sort of powerful way. This is much more mellow than any imperial stout. There is strong bitterness with hints of dark chocolate and some fruit towards the end. Medium, semi-dry body. This is not a bad brew, but I’ll likely not have it again. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 3, 2006 Updated: Dec 4, 2006Poured brown/black with a large head. A lot ’browner’ that stouts I’m used to. A lot of lacing. Smelled of toasted grains and HOPS. Taste of chocolate roasted malts, coffee and less prevelant hops than was in the nose, but still there. Medium to slightly heavy body. I thought it was a little watery for the style. But it has a good flavor, otherwise.
