12 oz bottle. Dark brown in color. Aroma is chocolate, light notes of dark fruit, coffee, molasses. Taste is chocolate, raisins/plums, a touch of vanilla, with a light bitter finish, with some notes of fruit lingering. creamy body and light carbonation. very nice offering from BBC.

Mar 7, 2010 12oz bottle 3/8/10 (Binny’s-Downers Grove)-43° in English pint-Pours a dark brown with ruby tints and a small tight beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and slight vanilla. Taste of the same with some coffee coming through as well. This full bodied brew is pretty well balanced and one of the better Sam Adams brews IMO.

Mar 3, 2010 12 oz bottle from Costco variety pack. Pours a deep brown color with a big fluffy tan head that quickly fades but sticks around in a thinner form, leaving good lacing. Aroma is faint, but I do get a nice roasted chocolate smell to it. Smooth & creamy mouthfeel, flavor is creamy & chocolatey with a bit of bitter in the finish. Very good beer.

Mar 1, 2010 Thick, dark pour. Slightly mahogany color. Relatively thick head for a porter (maybe it was just my pour though). Chocolate/peanut butter aroma. Thin on the tongue. Slightly burnt taste with dark chocolate on the end. No carbonation, not crisp, watery. Long, slightly bitter finish.

Pours a dark brown to black with reddish highlights. The aroma is cherry, dark fruit, vanilla and caramel. The flavor is more of the same with a tobacco and tannic aftertaste, which was unexpected. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Feb 21, 2010 A: The pour is a dark, dark brown with a small tan colored foam on top. There is some nice lacing on the glass as I enjoy this fine libation.
S: The primary aroma is roasted malt, but there are some mild chocolate and vanilla notes in there as well.
T: A fairly sweet beer for a porter. The roasted malt and coffee come through on the finish, but the initial tastes are chocolate and caramel.
M: A medium bodied beer with a moderate level of carbonation.
D: Like most of the other Sam Adams beers, a very easy drinker. I wish it wasn’t quite as sweet, but it’s still a decent beer and easy to have a few of in a sitting.
