Commercial Description:
Tommyknockers were mischievous elves who slipped into mining camps with the Cornish miners in the 1800s. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tommyknocker Brewery, this special brew is meticulously crafted with pure maple syrup, the highest quality chocolate and crystal malts and is accented with the finest blend of European and American hops. Imperial Nut Brown Ale is a bigger, bolder version of our wildly popular Maple Nut Brown.

Bottle. Pours dark, dark, brown with a decent sized tan colred head. Aroma is chocolate, cashew, caramel, maple. Flavor is rich chocolate, maple, toffee, caramel, some nuttiness. Palate is medium to full bodied, medium carbonation, sweet sticky finish. This one surprised me, surpassed all expectations. Nice stuff here.

From the pour, this isn’t your typical Brown Ale. They aren’t kidding with the word ’imperial’. This brew is beautifully dark, almost opaque. Take a whiff... it brings you right back to the days of my childhood, when I would sneak into the fridge and drink Bosco right out of the container! Taking a sip, the taste is actually pretty mild. There’s not alot of mouthfeel. it’s way thinner than I expected. Slight hint of maple. Sweet, but also has almost a dryness to it. Overall, this makes a great dessert beer. Get ready for bed, pop open a bottle and whisk yourself into a late night slumber.

From my fall 2006 notebook. Probably the best Tommyknocker product I’ve tried. Dark brown color with faint head. Maple dominates the nose. The body has a malty maple flavor with a smooth finish.

Interesting, unique, but perhaps a touch rough and simplistic. Aroma and flavor are both dominated by caramel toffee and maple syrup. There’s an herbal hoppy finish that is only just there, enough to give some balance to this otherwise pretty sweet beer. Its best trait is a full rounded smooth mouthfeel complemented with a pillowy soft carbonation. Deep garnet color with a medium beige head and nice lacing.

Nice caramelly nose, some brown sugar, very malty, hints of vanilla. Pours dark brown with little to no head. Rich and malty, caramel and brown sugar, hints of maple, the hops are hardly noticable just a little spiciness. Its pretty sweet, it would be a good dessert beer.

22oz bottle. Poured a deep brown color with an averaged sized light tan head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, maple syrup, some dark fruits, and a little earthy. Tastes of maple syrup, chocolate, nutty, and some dark fruits. Brown sugary sweet. Reminded a little bit of root beer candy. This bottle was a little old, but I was pleasantly suprised by it.

Bottle dated: 11/9/04. Poured a murky brown with a nice cream tinted head. Aroma of grapefruit, malt, caramel and mild hops. Some notes of nuttiness were coming through but were overpowered. Very creamy mouth feel with a slight tingle. This had a very strong citrus malt astringency to it that was quite pleasant. Again, there was a hint of nuttiness but not in the forefront. Fine brew.

Bottle. Cloudy red brown coloured with an off white head. Sweet malty aroma of nuts, dried fruits and hops. Sweet flavour of malts, caramel, liquorice, rye bread, dried fruits and hops. Hoppy finish. Nice.
