COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Change of the Guard is the first brew by Will Avery joining Galway Bay as Head Brewer and the last brew by Chris Treanor as he joins his new home at White Frontier hailing from Switzerland. Will and Chris’s heads came together to brew a beer that showcases both brewers skills in making hoppy beers and to give an indication of what both Galway Bay and White Frontier have to look forward to from their new brewers! Change of the Guard is a 11.5% Triple Red IPA with a delicate malt backbone, just enough to carry the massive onslaught of Chinook, Simcoe, Mosiac and Citra hops used throughout the brew. This beer’s a special one available as a keg only release, catch it while you can!

The beer has a lovely relish amber color infusion. The color already reminds me of tropical fruits like grapefruit and peach. The beer is nice and cloudy. The beer pours a fast disappearing layer of white foam. The smell is filled with tropical fruit. I smell citrusy aromas of grapefruit, passionfruit, some strawberry and orange. It’s great. There is a lot of sweetness, combined with a natural fruity sourness. The hops give their share of bitterness, to make it complete. One of the best beers of this type I know. The taste is just as great. The grapefruit is clearly present and fills the intensive aftertaste. This results in a sweet, bitter and sour inferno. The taste also has a touch of strawberry and passionfruit. The balance is extremely good. A strong bitterness with natural sweets and sours. I love it.

keg at brewdog
big sticky, pithy, boozy, warming spicey hazy dark ruby beer with beige lacing. Pine and pith, sweet malt and bitterness - don’t need much of this but good to see a turbocharged Irish red ale ;)

Schooner at against the grain. Pours red with off white head. Citrus, grapefruit nose. Syrup grapefruit bitter finish. This is a sipper.

@Solothurner Biertage 2016; courtesy of Nicolas Roberti - light hazy amber beer with a little foam left; fair hoppy aroma of peach and apricot; full-bodied, sweet, sticky and very bitter; sharp, spicy and bitter hoppy fruity finish; piney

Draught. Pours a cloudy murky amber red with a thin mostly lasting off white head. Aroma of blood orange, caramel, pine, grapefruit, exotic fruits, hint of red fruits, oaky. Taste is of orange, grapefruit, citrus, caramel, resinous pine, chalky, some alcohol on the finish. Dense syrupy mouthfeel, soft to medium carbonation.

Draught at Brew Dock. Deep Orange with a medium head. Aroma of fruity hop. Flavour of spicy hop, fruit syrup, chalk, sticky long lasting palate, not overly bitter. Very long full flavour.

Very nice beer, really balanced for such a bold beer. Some belgian yeast’s esters might further increase complexity.
