Commercial Description:
Avaialable in 330ml bottles only.
May be known as Coffee Porter.
Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

500ml Bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo) Very nice coffee beer - well combined. Not standing out as a beer, but the coffee is well integrated and it’s a very tasty drink, if perhaps a little cartoony.

Poured a jet black with medium thick tan head that lingered to mid-glass and left some lacing. Aroma is strong black coffee with a hint of choclate. Mouthfeel a tad on the thin side, but somewhat tingly, and the taste picks up the choclate coffee of the nose, but to alesser degree. Alcohol never does make itself known, and the finish is of medium duration and okay.

A: The pour is a dark brown color with some red highlights, but perhaps a bit on the light side for a porter. The head is initially fluffy and tan, but dies down quickly. S: The name of the beer is certainly a good indicator here. The aroma is almost solely coffee with a touch of chocolate and roasted malt. T: Like the nose, the flavor is coffee pretty much all the way, but at a much higher intensity. There’s a nice roasted malt background with a bitter coffee finish. M: The body of this is a bit on the light side of medium with a moderate level of carbonation. A bit more carbonation could help out with the perception of a lack of body. D: Despite a few flaws, this is a very tasty and drinkable beer. The coffee flavor is quite intense, which is something I appreciate.

330mL bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with a fine tan head that settles down quickly. Overwhelming aroma of coffee with some roasted malt and a little chocolate in the mix. Similarly the flavour is primarily coffee, with a little sweetness, roasted malt and smoke. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, fairly creamy with a lingering bitterness.

11.2 oz bottle. Extremely deep black coffee aroma. A little bit of raisin. Pours reddish brown with little head, below average lacing for this style. Tastes almost more like coffee than beer almost. Carbonated coffee, that is. Starts sweet, ends both bitter and sour. Although not bad, I’ve had better coffee beers.

Black with a small tan head. VERY strong burnt coffee aroma. Heavy body with a medium bitter finish. You get a little bit of roasted malts, chocolate and burnt coffee taste with this one. A good stout, but nothing that blows me away.

Bottle. Pours dark coppery brown with a Creamy tan head that doesn’t last long. As well as the coffee the aroma has notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt and nuts. Flavour is similar: the chocolate, malt and nuts are still there but the coffee is stronger, giving impressions of both black coffee and coffee beans. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation and a roasty, mildly bitter and slightly smokey finish. Quite similar to the London Porter but with lots of coffee. Very nice.

Coffee and something funky going on in the nose, it smells like lettuce, honest. Creme brulee perhaps as well. The pour is standard, dark brown, a bit thin looking maybe, standard head, minimal lacing. Heavy dark roast coffee flavor, heavy roasted malt too, and heavy hops to keep the balance. Good, heartier than many porters I have had, not super complex.

Bottle. Poured a jet black color with a little creamy tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, lots of coffee, and nuts. Flavor was coffee, coffee, coffee. Finish was mild bitters, and roasted malts. Rich and creamy. Good beer.
