Commercial Description:
James Squire Porter is a beer of finesse. Its relationship to stout is evident in a rich, deep colour that is less opaque and unveils window panes of ruby mahogany.Unlike stout, it has more delicate complexity. Roasted barley andwheat, subtle hoppings and long maturation create hints of bitter malt chocolate and pillowy head.

Dark chocolate colour, coffee and chocolate aroma, nice and full in the mouth, it went down so well that suddenly my glass was empty! Cheers!

Bottle - Dark beer with nice creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt. The beer is a bit thin to drink, but has good malt flavours with slight chocolate and smokey finish. Good beer to drink with heavy meal which will give it more of a balance.

345mL bottle. Pours a mahogany brown with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of roasted malt, with some chocolate and smoke. Medium sweetness, some bitterness from the roasted malt along with a good amount of toasted flavours. Average carbonation, medium bodied and reasonably creamy with a bittersweet finish.

Good beer. This is ideally what a porter should taste like. Nice roasty, coffee malts with a slight bitter finish. No off notes (like meantime porter) just solid and earthly. For the ABV it is a very good beer. Will drink again. Would love to try on tap.

Pours dark copper with a quickly fading head. Nose shows lots of roasted barley, with sweet hints of chocolate and oats. Simple, but very nice. Similar flavours, with roasted barley growing strong into a long-lasting finish. Carbonation is a bit excessive, and the body is a bit watery.

Bottle acquired in Phnom Penh. Brown with reddish tint, fizzy tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel over a coffee cake. Fresh granola bar with some coconut. Malty aromas. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Some lactose sweetness in the body with acidic finish. A little weak in the roast department but has mild chocolate. Wish it was more toasty-roasty but quite drinkable.

Bottle (345ml). Pours opaque dark brown with a ruby red hue and a small light brown head that reduces quickly. Aromas of coffee, bitter dark chocolate, molasses and a faint fruitiness. Quite thin bodied on the palate with a low carbonation and pleasant dark roasted malt flavours. A hint of smokiness in the finish. A nice Porter that is not too rich and filling.

Bottle. Pours darkish with a light brown head that hangs around. Milky chocolate and hints of coffee aromas.Tastes of roasted malt, wheat and chocolate. The nice subtle hops don’t quite make up for over-carbonation and being a touch light in alcohol to support the flavours. Perhaps I’ll try the next one colder.

Smoke and chocolate taste. Not my type of beer, I dislike chocolate but other than that, great looking beer, good head/carbonation, worth trying!
