Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: pours as thick dark brown sludge with medium lighter gourmet brown crown.4-
Nose: espresso dark feel ,roast with hint of cocoa beans , brown malts with hint of hop and dry alcohol. Solid heavy nose. This great aroma goes even deeper with time giving impression of fuller rounded character.
Flavor/Palate : full bodied. Bold coffee dark roast , smoky with tar with based brown malts. Sticky , earthy , black soil noted. Not for everyone , fairly dry for me to enjoy such approach. Dry late showing alcohol.

so i had to roll all the way down to athens to score this fine brew. Had it at its 05 release party at the wild wing cafe. Very black, very much coffee in the aroma, even more coffee in the body. I thought it was extrememly smooth, i could drink it all night, and i did.

Bottle thanks to craftbeerdesign. Thanks again, again. Pours a really dark ruby tinged black with a 1 finger foamy tan head. Coffee is the aroma. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is really coffee - not espresso - but lots of strong coffee. No chocolate. The coffee is so strong it’s like sucking grounds. Sort of backs off and mellows out in the end. This is really a classic coffee stout. Oatmeal? Could be. The burnt malt is almost submerged by the coffee. Really good stuff.

Almost identical to the Wired Straight Stout, although I find this to be a little thicker and maltier. Creamier palate as well, still with nice coffee presence. The body could be more balanced though with, perhaps, a touch less sweetness and the aroma more pronounced. Hides its alcohol well, but isn’t that strong to begin with. Still, a very nice beer from Terrapin.

2007 neck label. Dark beer with a foamy brown head. Nose of espresso coffee, toffee and bitter chocolate. The flavor is also dominated by the coffee, with lots of chocolate, white sugar, caramel corn, vanilla and butter. Smooth, almost slick, mouthfeel. Big beer with tons of flavor. If you like your coffee and your beer at the same time, this is your drink.

Rerate Detect a hint of pepper this time around - still solid from the bottle - plenty of roasted coffee goodness. Original 3.8 On tap at the Mellow Mushroom in downtown, Athens, Ga. Tar black pour, with a medium thin, but sticky mocha colored head that leaves a generous coat of lacing. Aroma has hints of coffee with some essence of licorice. Bold flavor with fresh espresso, baker’s chocolate, black licorice and some brandy in the finish. Smokiness pervades throughout. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. A most enjoyable treat with my pizza.

Bottled @ Sk8vikings blind porter/stout tasting. Beer no. 6: </b >Pitch black coloured. Dense brown head. Sweetness, roast, fruit and coffeenotes in the aroma. Flavour is roasted and dry. Has distinct coffeenotes. Alcohol is present. Medium bodied. Roasty bitterness in the end with a nice alcoholburnt on lips and palate.

Good sized dense brown head of fine creamy bubbles. Decent carbonation. Wow, big coffee aroma with loads of oatmeal, cigarette ash and actually some very fresh cut grass in the background. Color is essentially black. Lively in the mouth. Lots of coffee again, a dry bitterness, roasted grains. Body is actually a little bit thinner than I expected. Clean finish with some lingering roasted grains and coffee. Thanks to TBC for this one (I think).
