Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Moderate raspberry, coffee and chocolate malty aroma. Medium body with a sticky smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark chocolate fruity flavor with medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
Solid complex beer. DocLock (4685), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours very dark black (slight ruby through light) with medium tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocoff, some dark fruit and cabernet. Tastes malty, with a nice krieky element coupled with some chocolate, almonds, and cognac. Part Flemish sour, part porter, part kriek, this one is unique and a nice surprise. Medium palate. Super dark brown with small dark brown sugar head. Light raspberries with shaved cedar on the nose. Taste is more like unripe tart raspberries mixed with cocoa. Mouthfeel is unfiltered and medium bodied. richlikebeer (834), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2005 another bottle of goodness from bbb63, pours a dark but not quite opaque brown with ruby colored highlights, a nice foamy head fades down to light tan lacing. aroma is chocolate and nutty, i dont smell the raspberries at all. however, there is no missing them in the taste. this brew reminds me very much of bells cherry stout, but with raspberry instead of cherry. the chocolates are the backbone, and are very present in the aftertaste. this provides a nice balance from the tartness of the front end. the body is a little thin, but this is a nice change up to the standard coffee/chocolate flavor of porters and stouts. barleyPops (1082), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2005 Pours dark brown with a tan, well-proportioned head. The aroma is of chocolate and maybe even berries. The flavor is, well, interesting to say the least. The "fresh tart raspberries" are predominant, with a little bit of chocolate. It gets sweet and then bitter again in a quite subtle finish. It’s ok, but lacks many of the characteristics of a good, sound porter. sneagrams3 (1809), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Dark brown with a slight ruby tint around the edges. Also sugar and caramel in the nose. Fruity, sour and burnt coffee. Tart raspberries and chocolate. Lively and layered. Nice lacing head. Abundant raspberry notes escape while pouring the bottle. Chocolate covered raspberries, it has a decadent aroma. Creamy raspberry start with some minerals chocolate and a metallic y note, not a roasted malt but metallic, dam i thought this was gonna blow my mind based on the aroma. Finishes quick but im just left with some copper tones in my mouth dam.
