Commercial Description:
A traditional London style beer, our Black Jack Porter highlights chocolate malt and Kent Goldings hops. Its slight initial sweetness quickly yields to the distinctive roastiness of the chocolate malt. The Kent Goldings hops perfectly balance the malt, making it very smooth, with a surprisingly clean finish.

Strong, rich aroma is of quality roast coffee with a firm overtone of sweet chocolate - tres tempting. It pours a semi-opaque Coca-Cola brown with a fairly thick beige head. Flavor is like a fine mocha, roast coffee and chocolate, slightly sweet, with a surprising and pleasant bitter hoppy undertone. Texture is tingly and smooth, very pleasant going down the hatch.

[bottle from bierzwerg.de] Toasty and molasses bread crust aroma with accents of vanilla and oak. Clear, deep, dark garnet under a flannel blanket of tan. Sweet bread crust malt up front that develops into vanilla and chocolate. Nice and toasty with a healthy dose of dark malt bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation, sweet and bitter chocolate finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark, dark copper, with a decent amount of head. Lots of chocolate, and smoky malt in the aroma and taste. Not a lot of coffee in this one, but still good!

Tap at Clark Street. Pours a thick dark brown with a finger of head. A good oaky aroma with hints of chocolate and malt. Full-bodied with a smooth sweetness punctuated by a good crisp bitterness.

Aroma is light roasted malt, coffee with a hint of sweet malt. Drinking this beer reminds me of my childhood. I gotup on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons and would make a huge glass of chocolate milk. I would try and sip it to make it last but I never could. Same thing happened. Smooth, smooth, smooth with a nice "full" roasted malt yet slightly coffee flavor. Finishes equally as smooth with just the right bitter and no after taste. This is as good as beer gets.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear very dark reddish brown with a thin off-white lacing head. Delicate aroma of spices, caramel and licorice. Bitter spicy flavor, with licorice and clove. Very clean brew. Spicy bitter finish. Nice.

12oz bottle. Decent but nothing special. Pours a dark brown color with some ruby highlights. Thin tan head and no lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and some nuttiness. Flavour is more pronounced roasted malt and some bitter chocolate with a hint of the Goldings.
