If this Porter were a woman she would probably be black, but I don’t really are about that. I would be so in love; I mean enamored with her crimson appearance! She would give just a little bit of head, off white; and she would dress in caramel colored lacing. She would smell and taste like chocolate, coffee, blackberries, and prunes. My baby would have a medium/oily palate with an exodus for love. That girl would make me hot for eternity; because, she was made to use her Left Hand to Jack my Black Porter! Seriously, a very fine Porter! Walt (2300), Austin, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2004 Deep brown hue with very good frothy tan head and lacing. The aroma hints of coffee, smoke, mocha, caramel, grassy and aromatic hops, and zesty yeast esters. The taste is straight forward chocolate and burnt toast. Undertone of bitterness and some citric presence. Minor coffee and smoke nature on the finish, but not dominate. Starts to become a bit lactic towards the end of tasting. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, a tad thin, but still respectable enough. Overall, this is a sweet porter, borderline stout. Worthy is a drink or three. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 10, 2005 Thanks to matta for this. Pours a luscious DEEP ruby color with small rapidly dissipating head. Aroma of malt, prunes, chocoff, nuts. Tastes malty, chocoffy, with some corn flakes, cognac, and firm almonds in the finish. Impressive. Chocolate syrupy element as it warms. What happened to the head, though? This one is fairly big (6.4%) for a porter, but that shouldn’t kick off the head that fast, should it? | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2006 Brownish porter with sacchirine aromas of toffee, chocolate, and coffee. Good chocolate taste, but light. The hop bitterness and the chickory backing begin to show through as the beer warms. Hope on the finish. All in all, palate is too light to showcase the good flavors working here. asheft (1645), Marburg, Germany

Toasty and molasses bread crust aroma with accents of vanilla and oak. Clear, deep, dark garnet under a flannel blanket of tan. Sweet bread crust malt up front that develops into vanilla and chocolate. Nice and toasty with a healthy dose of dark malt bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation, sweet and bitter chocolate finish.
