Commercial Description:
Our brewmaster's own family recipe brewed during prohibition. A delicious dark-colored, medium to full body, known for its creamy texture. A real treat!

Draft pint at the brewpub. Standard porter visuals here, if lacking any real substantial head. Decent roasted character, a tad smoky. Light in body. Served a bit too cold. This is a beginner’s porter, but that’s OK -- quite drinkable and unoffensive to almost anyone. (#3823, 1/27/2010)

Pours a porter black with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, and coffee. Taste is pretty smooth and easy to drink, not thick, but not overly thin either. Goes down pretty easy.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation . The aroma was dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a mellow malty aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of hops dark malt and coffee. An OK brew just nothing special.

Draft at GBBC.Small tan head that was mostly lasting, spotty lacing, opaque,no carbonation observed, and a dark brown hue. Nose was malty, roasty and a hint of coffee. Ditto for the flavor and thin and watery.Smooth mouthfeel and light in body.Balanced, but very thin and watery tasting.Un-porter like IIMO.

great aroma, minimal head , has a nutty taste and coffee finish , it is on the light side for a porter not much viscosity, with very light hops, a good beer overall.

MiBG Fest 2005:

Deep brown hue with a fizzy head and no lace. The aroma has notes of smoke , hazelnut, ripe apple, buttery bread, hint of mocha and coffee. The taste has an equal combination of sweetness and tartness with some grassy hops as well. A whole lot of coffee influence on the finish. The body is thin and watery. Okay but suffers visually and in feel.

On tap @ MBGF: Roasted grain and coffee with a hint of chocolate. Dark brown with a tan head. Roasted grain and coffee with just a slight taste of chocolate. I get a light bourbon flavor. Very little hops. A nice porter.
