Commercial Description:
Brewed after Stone Coast's flagship 420 IPA, 840oz (that's 52.5 lbs) of hops were used. Dry-hopped with Liberty, Mt. Hood, and Tettnang whole hops during 5 weeks of conditioning. In addition whole Chinook hops were added after filtration. Surprisingly well-balanced, and gets better with every sip.

(22oz bottle) Medium, fluffy off-white that leaves nice lacing atop hazy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange/grapefruit, caramel, some peach. Taste is mild sweet, grapefruit/pine, herbal. Dry finish. Medium body, some acidity. Not bad, but could use more malt.

My Bottom Line:
Floral, leafy, citrusy hoppiness proliferates within the frail caramel maltiness until resinous bitterness claims the back of the tongue. This full frontal hop nudity should be exciting for those in dire need of a hoppy encounter.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the misty amber.
-The body’s relative thinness makes the hoppiness a tad too brash.
-The aromatic hoppiness gets soapy at times.
-Alcohol is not tasted much, which is fun.
-The citrusy hoppiness is often orangey.
-The hop signature is obviously not your typical Double IPA’s, which is appreciated.

Bottle.

Poured an amber color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus fruits, pine, and light skunk. Taste of citrus, caramel, pine, tobacco, grapefruit, and a dry, bitter finish.

On tap at the Hop Devil Grill. Amber color, can see through the beer. Smell is bitter, with a bit of that pot aroma in the background, floral in general. The body is kind of light. No real discernable taste. Leaves a burn on the throat for a while.

I remember being pumped to this and totally let down. Just tasted like an alcoholic mediocre ipa.

Tons of pine resin. A good bit of caramel and toffee drive this flavor (perfect example of how malt can define hop flavor). Still, malt is missing here. Not very sweet, and lacking body. Bitterness is moderate, but proper given the lack of sweetness. A good bit overcarbonated. Tasty, but lacking complexity and nuance. Clearly flawed. Doesn’t stand up to the precedent set by it’s little brother.

Bomber from Mckean and Charles. Pours dark orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is slightly sweet and hoppy. Taste is sweet and hoppy and slightly bittered. Some good citrus, this needs a bigger bite for me to really like it.

Moderate resin and pine hop aroma. Medium cloudyness with a large off white head. Mild hop bitterness in the taste the fades quickly.
