Commercial Description:
Care for some hops with your hops? Before we ferment our 5 Barrel Pale Ale, we strain it through a bed of 'em. Then while it ages, we add even more. We like how this gives the beer a fresh, lively finish. We like hops.

As we go about refining the recipe for each new beer, we brew up just five barrels at a time. That's exactly how we arrived at this pale ale -- so that's what we named it. Plus, it sounded a lot nicer than Giant Vat Pale Ale.

somewhat hoppy, carmel flavor, small head, and a bit weak for my taste, kind of plain for being so hoppy, nothing special

pours slightly hazy orange with thin head. aroma skunky pine and citrus hop with some cocoa. taste is dominately citrusy/piney with biscuity malt and tiny hints bittersweet chocolate. finishes moderately bitter. pretty good brew.

Pours amber/gold and has a creamy white head. It’s a great looking beer and head-retention is excellent. Aroma is hoppy and malty. It smells really fresh. Taste is moderately hopped and fairly malty as well. I also get a hint of metallic and it’s a bit too crisp for me. For being a session pale, the body is pretty big. All in all, I’d say this is quite good, but not amazing. I’d get it again, but I wouldn’t really seek it out.

Sampled from bottle. Pours hazy golden-copper with a thin, light tan head. Aroma is spicey/piney hops and some sweet malt. Flavor is nicely bitter with toasted & caramel malts. Flavor hops a bit too resinous. Medium-bodied with pine resin in the finish. I’d rather have a Boulevard Pale Ale.

Pours a light amber gold with an offwhite head. There’s a definite citrus quality followed by perhaps a "white grape" bitterness (perhaps apricot) and a bit of caramel (ESB-ish). This is thin for an APA, and it is a bit too acidicly sweet.

Bottled (with thanks to Slothgar T!) Darker than the average pale, with a coppery color. Quickly dissipated head. Fresh hops on nose (I love the smell of hops!), nice strong but not over-powering hops taste. A bit smoky? Coppery taste in back of mouth on finish.

Hazy amber appearance in the glass with a copper tint. Nice head not a pure white more of an eggshell. Lots of hops in the nose, sharp. Strong hops flavor with a hint of dark fruit and malt.

Pours a clear honey amber. Aroma is floral and pine tree. lightly sweet initial taste with a floral hops and a slight bitter bite to finish.
