Commercial Description:
Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor's Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Classic dry stout with coffee and chocolate notes. Head doesn’t quite compensate for the bite though, middle of the pack stout.

I was surprised to see that I hadn’t rated this beer as I thought that Guinness Draught was the same as this. Poured a nice black with a decent sized foamy, beige head. Malty, coffee smell. This didn’t seem as chocolatey or as dry as the draught which I like better.

This beer is so pretty you don't wanna drink it, but you will cause it's real good.

You can’t go wrong with Guinness but the flavor seems to be getting weaker as the years go by.

Black with medium brown head. Weak, malty aroma. Flavor is initially somewhat sweet, with a medium hop bite and a roasted finish. Pretty good, although not the best stout I’ve ever had.

Stronger hop taste and more bitter than Guinness draft. Still smooth and enjoyable, this could benefit from a stronger taste and less bitterness. However, being that this is EXTRA stout, I guess that’s not what this is about. I’ll stick to the cans.

Thin body and watery taste taint an otherwise wonderful stout. Stick with the draught.
