UPDATED: JUL 11, 2020 10.7.2020: 330 ml bottle, 12.2% ABV, at Brasserie Au Trappiste, Bern. Pours a hazy copper with a beige head. Aroma of sweet white wine, wood, vanilla, sweet malt, sugar, raisins, dates, grapes, cognac and some booze. Medium-full to full body with a light to medium sweetness, a light bitterness, a light tartness and some alcohol. The flavor starts with sweet malt and distinct barrel notes of wood and sweet white wine - brown sugar, honey, caramel, some fruity notes, dried apples, hints of pear, some cognac. Finishes with a light residual sweetness, sugar, wood, hints of vanilla, tannins, vinous notes and cognac. Really nice barrel aged Barley Wine; not overly sweet with distinct barrel notes, a relatively high drinkability and lots of character. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 16

BenL8 (1832) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 14, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 14, 2020 Bottle. Pours a clear caramel colour. Had a carbonation explosion when opening, but then little head after all. Aroma is rich and sweet, lots of dessert wine, oak, dark fruit and some booze. Big body. Flavour is malty, complex and very sweet. Lots of berries and dark fruit, date, plum, fig, maybe some grapes. The sauterness adds a lot of oak, some vanilla and additional vinous sweetness. Excellent.

kanaclane (1166) - - JAN 1, 2020
