One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

Bottle at home. Has a deep brown to black color with a small beige head. A little sweet aroma of chocolate truffles, coffee, ash and leather. The flavor has more chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, medium body and light bitterness. Easy drinking and a little sweet. A solid classic.

This is the world-class Swedish porter that is unknown in Sweden! This beer is the best porter in the world! It has layers of flavor that you will not find in any other beer due to long fermenting and lager times. It is a bigger contribution the world than even Abba, Björn Borg, or IKEA!

The foam is serious and long lasting and emits lovely aroma of coffee and hard roasted malt abundant. The flavor is deep, rich and carrying coffee, lots of hard roasted malt, slightly burnt and chocolate. This porter is one of them you should not miss.

Black appearance, but not very dense or thick. You can see through the edges a bit in the light. The head is thin, with a tan foam that settles leaving a pencil thin ring. The nose has a faint roastiness, with suggestions of caramel and toffee. The flavor balances nicely between toffee sweetness and roasted chocolate malts. I’m getting a bit of vanilla as well, and the finish leaves a keen bitterness on the tongue. The alcohol seems quite mild, and I’m trying to figure out how this qualifies as a Baltic Porter. The mouthfeel has just the right degree of thickness, with a sharp carbonation that holds up well. Overall I’m glad this was recommended to me. It’s a fairly robust porter with good depth of flavor and supreme drinkability. Definitely a nice change from the typical American style porters that are so common. Highly recommended.
