One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

DAAIK; Bottle 33cl., from Systembolaget. Årgång 2016. Pours moderate to large, black with a frothy creamy, lasting and lacing tan head. 0.33 l bottle at ’Butcher’s Tears’, 2010 vintage, best before January 2013, shared with markoijelena. Almost black with a beige head. Sweetish, slightly roasty and a little fruity aroma of caramel, milk chocolate, some coffee, hazelnut and a touch of dark ripe fruits. Quite sweet, slightly roasty and a little fruity taste of caramel, milk chocolate, sweet coffee and hints of dark ripe fruits, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little roasty finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, almost flat. Nice, but expected more.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 2014. My 2,900th review but it is listed as a Baltic Porter. Darn. I also wanted to hit my 100th Porter with my 2,900th review! But back to the beer. Dark brown to near black pour with modest tan head. Aroma of dark sweet roasted malts, caramel, and earthy hops that are low profile. Medium to better than medium creamy body. The taste is incredibly sweet, dark, and roasty. Mild bitterness to finish. Hurrah for Swedish Porters!

From 1989, pours dark brown with almost no head. Aroma; the years has made it a little vinous, and more towards BW, coffee, resin, dried fruits and figs. Taste; Resin, dried fruits, some figs, a hint of chocolate and coffee in the finish.
