Commercial Description:
Cheyenne Cañon Ale, the latest incarnation of the ever-popular Piñon Nut Brown, will be released Friday, July 6th. This year’s batch is a beauty. With malty sweetness up front, and a hint of nutty fruit in the finish, it’s a smooth, velvety ale that hides its higher-than-usual 6.9% ABV. Best of all, it feels as good as it tastes because 100% of the profits from the sale of each bottle or pint will be donated by Bristol to the Friends of Cheyenne Cañon, a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the natural resources of North Cheyenne Cañon Park.

22oz bomber(courtesy of RSRIZZO)-A dark brown body with a decent tan head that dissipated into a small covering over the beer. Aroma of malty sweetness and that about it. Taste on this medium to full bodied brew comes across with faint malt that grows stronger throughout the mouthful and ends with a nutty taste. Definitely hides the alcohol very well. I think a great tasting beer. Another great brew from Bristol.

Bottle: Copperish amber pour with an off white thin head. Sweet nutty aroma with a vague grainy character. Light body and mild flavor with a touch of fruity esters. Grainy nutty notes with a very mild hop presence (hardly detectable). Lacking the malt depth/nuance that makes a good Brown Ale. A bit too simple.

Bottle courtesy of jbye4334 that I took to Peter’s tasting. Pours a clear brown with a thin white head. Light malt on the nose and a little bit of hops. Light to medium body, little bit of roast and toasted malt. Finishes up with some nice toast notes and a light bitterness.
