Man, this was a pain in the ass to open!Murky brown, no head. Tangy, spicy aroma, like a spiced tea, or perhaps fruit cake, plus some cinnamon. . Nicely syrupy sweet, with notes of molasses, caramel and maple, plus hint of allspice and finishes with a pronounced alcohol bite. As it warms, however, the alcohol becomes all consuming and dominates the entire experience. Thanks to Springslicker for this one!

12-oz., capped and waxed like a little beast. Thanks, RiversideAK! Murky medium amber with bright caramel highlights. Headless, legaless, laceless. Big sweet caramel nose. Creamy medium body. Tons of smoke, caramel, biscuit, and graham cracker. Mild finish. The smoke is an interesting touch, but once the novelty of that wears off, it’s kind of just another sticky, cloying bw.

Aroma is of sherry and oak, your typical aged notes ... very tan and murky ... mouthfeel is pretty much a mess .. old dominates here, some chocolate and rum ... tasted strange, warming up doesn’t really help.. i could have done without .. age 20 years? this was 5 years old and had trouble...

Bottled, 2004 vintage. Poured fiery coppery-amber with no head sticking on it. The aroma opened strong with a healthy liquor-like impression.. toasted caramel, barley, and lots of alcohol over sweeter notes of vanilla and grappa.. as it breathed, it became more alluring. The flavor opened syrupy with molasses, vanilla, and dark vinous notes leading.. caramel and darker fruit supported the middle.. finished with a heavy oxidation presence and alcohol warmth.. dry and oaky all around. Heavy-bodied with very low if any carbonation present.. thick feel, but rather empty on the back.. just a little residual fruit and warmth at the end.

Attractive pour of deep copper brown. Flavor and nose are fried fruit, toffee and caramel. Some hop influence as well.

Bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. 2004 vintage. Pours a murky red-amber with a spare diminishing off-white head. Nice aroma of caramel and toffee along with light alcohol, fruit and a hint of wood. Flavour of caramel malt, dark fruit, alcohol and a good amount of hops. Alcohol’s pretty smooth, especially for 11.5%. Medium to full bodied. Very good stuff.
