| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 26, 2009 650 ml. Opaque with a half-inch of bubbles that settles to a lasting disc. Initial aromas of charred hickory, piquant green herb, coffee, light caramel and oats. After a while some iron comes in to the nose and lingers. Flavors of prickly charred mesquite and hickory chips, green apple, dark chocolate, espresso, oak, Cannon Ball plug, and hints of country ham. Heavy body is slightly watery, roasty-dry and smoothly carbonated. Delicate tats of lace left behind.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 17, 2010 Bottle... Poured black with a brown head. Aroma of cake-like malts, Irish Cream, whiskey and roasted tones. Soft, foamy, subtle palate with a roasted chalk tone to balance the sweetness and dark notes. The booze was masked nicely while coffee and chocolate tones crept through. travita (2146), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 11, 2010 Bomber bottle,
has a black pour which gave a partial chocolate/coffee colored head that whiffs away to a thin ring,
there is a small bubble island that appears in the center of the glass, this Impy is pretty dark but I can be seen through this at the edges,
aromas of dry chocolate, roasted malt and some coffee fragrances emerged as the ale warms,
flavors of roasted malt, malt astringency and burnt malts?
Coffee with coffee bitterness and malt astringency and hop bitterness?
and muted chocolate, may be a bit too much bitterness, there sure is not much sweetness in this drink,
and the bitterness appears to grow as it warms, no trace of the 10% alc. but the bitterness hides that well,
mouth feel is a little thin for a Imperial Stout,
the nose was so-so, the bitterness in this beer makes it a little hard to drink, after a half glass, the bitterness starts to grate on my palate,
this Impy has no sweetness and the bitterness is pretty strong, lots of burnt/strong coffee like bitterness, this may be good with a very sweet dessert, this was a little hard to drink except in small sips, you may like it if you prefer a bitter IRS.

Aroma is big and roasty with a lot of coffee, chocolate and burnt malts. Heavy roasted malt and coffee flavors at the beginning with a light wood hint near the middle. Espresso really comes out at the finish and leaves a very nicely roasted and burnt coffee finish. Smooth and really creamy with the alcohol hidden nicely. ericandersnavy (1308), crossroads, Texas, USA
