Gusher when I opened the bottle... Dark reddish brown with a little bit of a tan head. Sweet malty aroma with some rasins and molasses. Sweet carmel flavor with lots of dark fruits. Full body, thick feel, and a long finish.

12oz. bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Bit of a gusher when opened. Poured a deep reddish brown with a finger of light tan head. Rich malty aroma with some molasses. A little on the sweet side, but it has a big malty base. More molasses and some dark fruit. Long malty finish. Smooth and very easy drinking for such a big beer.

Roasty, plums, sweet mature red fruits notes. Brushwood autumnal notes. Very nicely sparkling. Beer is well bodied, full and ample. Sweet and alcoholized just as it should. Color is copper, nicely transparente. Un vrai bonheur a boire, savoureux, une superbe biere allemande, bravo a Augustiner qui ne trompe que jamais!

[bottle @ RBESG 2009, Grant Tasting] Grainy malt and hay aroma. Clear garnet with a quickly dropping, tan cover. Grainy caramel flavour with some apples and sherry-like nuts. Also rye bread. Medium body, low carbonation, nutty.

Maximator is has slightly more hop flavor to it than your average doppelbock, but it blends very nicely into the thick malty flavor and aroma of this beer. Enjoyable all the way!

Bottle at home. Dark red body with slighest of head. Malty and fruity nose. Taste of caramel, malts and plenty of dark fruits. Bit prickly towards the finish, with slight taste of cherries. Well done.
