Commercial Description:
Like Hunter S. Thompson...Gonzo Imperial Porter is deep and complex. This turbo charged version of the Road Dog Porter is mysteriously dark with a rich malty body, intense roasted flavors, and a surprisingly unique hop kick. With Gonzo weighing in at 7.8% ABV, it will bite you in the ass if you don’t show it the proper respect. IBU’s: 85

Excellent porter with balanced flavors, but very rich. Aroma includes hint of coffee/chocolate but doesn’t over power like some. Pours with a decent head and looks like a good porter should and is not translucent at all. On my list of top porters.

Pours dark black with off white head, aroma is full of roasted coffee malt. Taste up front is a bit of hoppiness that leads into sweet chocolate and molasses and ends with bitter coffee and roasted malt. Excellent, want to try the BA version!

Rich dark brown/black color; Medium very creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, coffee, and chocolate; Flavor of sweet roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit; There is also a smoky texture to the flavor as well; Nicely balanced; Overall, I did enjoy this one.

Liking porters, I was looking forward to this one. It was very dark and had a medium brown head and there was the aroma of toast and coffee. The coffee followed through on the taste with roasted malt with it. I’ll be buying another one of these.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with a label marking that rads VINTAGEE0911. The pour is mainly an opaque brown with about a half-finger of frothy beige head and significant lacing along the glass. The aroma is of coffee, chocolate malts, and baked bread. The mouthfeel is around medium to heavy texture with great stability. The taste tends to be more burnt chocolate than anything else with a vague sense of hops in there. This is a quality brew.

Bottle. Poured black with a thin beige head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, toastiness, and a bit of grass. Flavor is coffee, smoke, brown sugar, and a grassy hop finish. Somewhat light bodied for an imperial porter.

Pours black with a thin tan head and some nice lacing. Aroma is sweet, malty and has notes of nuts and caramel. Very complex taste with lots of malt up front, nuts, brown sugar, caramel and clove coming through a bit later and ends, oddly enough, hoppy. A serious and satisfying beer. Outstanding on all counts!
