Enjoyed on a full moon. Pours an iced tea rich copper gold. Soapy, inconsistent lacing. Nose leads with toasted caramel malt, peppery and oozing ripe stonefruit, a dash of pine resin, a hint of baking spice from the oak. Flavor starts off on the sweeter side, beefy and syrupy malt backbone of toasty honey and molasses, a richly drippy ripe apricot and peach, some nice white flower essences happening. Very sticky. Keeps your mouth smacking away at the residual sugar. Dense, ripe, toasty, with the oak lending a nice baking spice, subtle coffee, vanilla, and bright new wood to the equation. A little dense and sweet for me, but has a great forceful bitter bite as the Floyds always make sure of. Worth trying.

Bready malt, herbal and floral hops, and alcohol heat in the nose. Medium bodied and a bit sticky, though the alcohol is hidden well. Slightly sweet, almost syrupy malt backbone. Herbal hops, plum, toffee, a little toasted oak. A pleasantly drinkable IIPA.

Pours a slightly hazy, dark golden orange color with apricot edges and a two finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Good retention, only slowly settling and leaving large steaks of chunky lacing behind.
Earthy floral hop aroma with grassy resins and subtle pine along with sweet caramel malt and delicate oak. The oak adds another layer of complexity without overwhelming the the hop and malt notes. Some dry char and earthy wood which compliments the floral/earthy hop notes and sticky reins. Sweeter malt backbone with toffee, biscuit, caramel and dark fruit. Really nice combo of hops, malt and oak in the nose.
Flavor is somewhat similar to the aroma but a bit more complex. Much stronger hop profile than the nose suggests with dank, earthy hop bitterness and resinous oils countered by a sweet malt backbone and dry toasted oak. Again, the oak really stands out without overpowering the other notes. This adds another layer of complexity while complimenting the dry bitterness of the hop profile. Pine, grassy resins, and spruce tip followed by caramel, toffee, toast and dark fruit. Oak comes on strong toward the end of the palate contributing to the dry finish. The high ABV is very well masked making this flavorful and complex beer deceptively drinkable.

Hazy orange with white head. Aroma is bread, herbs and citrus. Taste adds a little malt and ends with pine. Sweet and sticky.

Bomber purchased at the Party Source in Bellvue, KY. Three Floyds BlackHeart English IPA is a darker amber mostly clear beer with a fine head of larger white bubbles. Nose is a bready malt aroma with hints of herbal hops. Taste is sweeter than anticipated with a bit of citrus and sweet malt resolving into a bit of caramelized malt In the middle. Decent bitters on the back end. A very nice attempt at a different style of IPA than I usually encounter. As an aside, the bottle art is amazing.

22 oz. bomber. Poured cloudy light amber with thin head. Big malt, oak, sweet licorice. Some tongue stripping pine at the end. Touch of booze.

Bomber poured into a Sam Adams pint is amber to copper in color with a huge creamy head and thick lacing. Aromas malt forward with raisins, hints of grapefruit and bread. Flavor is mild to medium bitter with a sweetness in the finish.
