Pours a dark copper with a white head. Slightly hoppy aroma with a decent balance of malts. Not anything special, but it is still a pretty average English pale ale.

bottle thanks to mcox90. Pours a dark amber with an off-white head. Nose is nutty and grain. Taste is nutty, metallic and earthy with a slight hop flavor. Mouthfeel is watery and only slightly bitter.

12 oz. bottle from mixed 12 pack. Pours an amber color with a white head. Nose is grains and floral hops. Palate is pretty bland. Moderate carbonation and not much body. Flavor is bland too. Grains and some hop bite. Ok brew I guess. Sessionable at the very least.

Sample given to me by The_Captain from the bottom of his days old growler. Thanks Mark. Hazy iced tea pour, pretty flat by the time I had it. Earthy lemony smell. Taste of dough, earth, lemon, some bitterness. Pretty good and I am sure it would be even better fresh and carbonated.

In short: A slightly problematic style-less mess.

In long: Nose of an unfermented wort. Taste of wet bread, vegetable notes, caramel, dough, sweet citrus juice. Basically an amateurish mess. Label says “The original American Ale”… and we sure have come a long way since then.

Bottle, from Forest City Liquors. Floral aroma with hops. Flavor starts with a citrus-sweet touch, mid-palate contributes some malty flavors, then finishes hoppy and mildly bitter. Quality session brew brew with not too much complexity but good flavor. Fot for $8.39/6 pack.

On tap at Barking Crab (Boston, MA). Pours a dark amber color with a thin off-white head. Head settles quickly with little lacing. Aroma is malty with notes of raisin and some honey. Flavor is malty-sweetness with some notes of barnyard and hoppy bitterness. Generally light body with a hoppy finish.

Tap at Ginger Man. Amber beer, slightly hazy and topped by a creamy white head. Aroma is lightly sweet and malty with a fairly prominent butterscotchy nose. A bit oxidized as well. There is a sweet crystal/caramel nuttiness behind a herbal/woody hoppiness. Flavour is quite hoppy with a light fuggles-esque character along with some lightly yeasty character. Bread crusts and a touch of pear/peachy fruitiness. Despite all of the positive individual characteristics, this beer never really comes together for me.
