Cask, The Horniman at Hay’s on the Thames. Pitch black, low head turning quickly to lacing. Malty aroma; a bit sweet, with chocolate and caramel. Flavor is just a touch sweet, with great roasted malt, chocolate. It is dry, roasted, and hoppy. Very good. Rich and relatively thick. Hoppy, dry aftertaste with roasted malt and dark chocolate.

Cask conditioned at Harbury Beer Fest ’09. Black with ruby hue, tan head. Sweetish liquorice straight from the start with blckberry fruit and a hint of chocolate, good roasty notes, it proved very popular at the Festival. Good stuff.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Dark ruby color, not much head. Roasted aroma, some licorice and coffee. Good body for 4.7% beer. Licorice and caramel in flavor, also some papery hops. Toasty lingering aftertaste. Quite balanced light porter.
