(bottle - 750 ml swingtop) Clear copper pour with a fizzy and lasting tan head. Aroma is lightly sweet but rather malty with a very light hint of spice and yeast. Kind of mild fruityness at the end. Sweet and malty at the start with a very pronounced fruit undertone. Some spice and a very nice yeast flavor come through at the middle. Finishes with a fruity and sweet caramel note. Not bad.

Nice looking bottle. Beer looked ant tasted like a porter, thin on body and taste....cool bottle.

This poured a murky brown color with a thin eggshell white head. Aroma was old chocolate milk and stale 2 row malt. Flavor was sweet artificial chocolate, and stale blah, i dont know.

Jet brown with a white head. This one doesn’t seem like a porter though it shows some light malt and milk chocolate. It’s too green and plant-like and too thin.

In a ceramic flip top bottle, only to find out haagstraaten is sterkins. Not as dark as most porters. Light rootbeer w/foam head. Spicey perhaps clove aroma. Wierd like unsweetend iced tea. Odd flavors, nothing like american porters. Very unique. Don’t think this is actually a porter, and oh I see it is a belgy ale. Hides the 6.5% rather well.

Ceramic flip-top bottle. With a recent price reduction, I decided to pull the trigger and get this one and came home, cooled it down and enjoyed it very much. The beer pours out a deep amber brown body, mostly hazed with a creamy 1" rocky head. Clearly different from most porters, as the body looked like it came from a soda can. Aroma is dominated by the dried dark fruits (raisins, figs) black walnuts and roasted malts. Bitter chocolate, yeast, light raisins, caramel and slightly nutty on the finish. Carbonation seemed a tad overboard for the style, and wasn’t very enjoyable on that note. Overall, really nice but the price does seem rather high.

As Hoogstraten Poorter. Pours a hefty near-opaque brown with a large beige head that collapses after a moment. Aroma is mostly dusty, papery, with just a touch of dates, that’s all. Flavor is indeed porterish with a good helping of generic dark malts, very easy on the hop level. A black olive flavor comes and goes. Nothing really stands out in the flavor, just very pleasant from start to finish. The mouthfeel is the highlight here; creamy and heavy, lingering aftertaste. Sort of a porter/Belgian hybrid here; a Belgian Porter if I may. I should have this again sometime. Overall, very good minus.

This is a beautiful beer - appearance-wise. Pours a rubyish-brown clear with tan head from ceramic bottle. Aroma is must and dark fruit. Flavor is sweet, finishing dry, with not much flavor body or anything. Strange - because the lead-up on this one was strong.
