UPDATED: MAY 26, 2019 Lovely copper pour with dense cream head. Upfront caramel and toffee progressing to treacle and molasses. Long alcohol glowing finish that reveals more caramel. There is some bitterness hidden in all that to provide some balance. My only criticism is it is slightly thin on the palate instead of soft and rich. But I would happily buy this again.

F: thin, off-white, quick gone. C: dark brown, hazy. A: malty, honey, herbal, fruity, vinous, raisins, rain water, dried fruits, molasses. T: malty, herbal, vaguely fruity, light oily, bit woody, warming alcohol, full body, low carbonation, quite boozy and not so complex, 33cl bottle from BXLBeerFest 2018 in Brussels.

On tap. Pours a red brown with light head. Aromas of port, lots of port, vinous wood, raisins and sharp malts. Flavors of vinous wood, oak, strong port and toasted malts.

Draft at Uiltje Bar, Haarlem. Clear golden amber with no real head. Aroma of booze, oak barrel, alcohol, toffee, butterscotch, caramel and malt. Flavour is heavy sweet. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2018 Slightly cloudy. Deep amber colour. Very bubbly head. Aroma is vanilla, marzipan, and port. Taste is dominated by alcohol, but there’s some white cake and caramel in there somewhere.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are rich dried fruits, sugar, caramel, malt, hops and has a sweet warming finish.

Bottle. Amber color, weak foam. Sweet aroma, sherry, light raisins, plum wine, brandy. Taste: noticeably sweet, slightly sour and bitter finish, raisins, sherry, powerful, interesting.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2018 Bottle at Cafe Frape, Maastricht. Cloudy, reddish brown colour, beige stable head. PX notes with nuts, wine and dried fruits, caramel malty, liquorice, spruce, bready, really (a bit too) alcoholic and quite bitter, dry. Lingering porto, roasted malty finish. Good body, medium body.
