Commercial Description:
Keg and bottle: Filtered.
First brewed in 2005.
Ingredients: Finest barley malts, wheat malts, and fresh whole hops.
Bock beer, released in celebration of the arrival of spring, is an ancient and mysterious part of the brewing tradition. Over time, the term "bock" has come to mean a beer darker and stronger than the brewery’s regular brew. This is the first time we have brewed a bock at Anchor Brewing Co., and we hope you will find it to be a rich and flavorful addition to our offerings. San Francisco’s Anchor Bock Beer is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam® Beer, in one of the most traditional small breweries in the world.

Darn good beer. Caramel and coffee notes. Ends with some balanced hoppiness. Starts smooth with excellent and strong aroma. Very good beer.

This is an enigma. Coffee? Toffee? Yeasty? Can’t figure, but I’ll keep trying. Wonderful. Please Anchor, year round.

Very dark brown/black body with a small head which rapidly fades. Typical Anchor liquorice-like aroma with a nice malt profile. Quite sweet flavor with hops and some spice - mint leaves? Refreshing, with a light mouthfeel; not too heavy on the carbonation. Its not a bock as I know it, but it sure is a nice brew.

Bottle. Poured deep brown with thick tan head. Aroma of swet malt and chocolate. Medium body. Bittersweet chocolate and malt, a bit of roast. Toasty finish. Worth drinking when you find it.

Draught. Very smoky aroma with hints of butterscotch, coffee, and caramel. Dark brown, nearly black with a patchy but elegant head. Smooth palate with a strong smoke flavor, lightly sweet. A touch thin but immensely smooth.

pours a very dark caramel color with an impressive four finger fluffy light brown head. aroma is a nice blend of barley malt, and wheat malt with a little hops mixed in with the flavors of coffee and chocolate. has a light to medium body with great lacing and a touch of carbonation. flavor is barley malt and wheat malt, it has some coffee and chocolate characteristics and has a touch of hops in the end. has a malty mouth-feel to it and this is probably one of the best bocks i have had to date. has a small alcohol aroma as it warms and a little caramel aroma and flavor as well. it is a little sticky on the lips and has a dry hop aftertaste along with coffee and chocolate.

Dark in color and the aroma is nice and malty. Flavor is nice and malty but a slight sourness detectable. Decent
