Served on nitro-tap at Iron Hill - Lancaster during their recent X-Mas in July event.

A - Pours murky brown with a small creamy half finger tall white head leaving little to no lacing down the glass.

S - Smells of caramel, toffee, vanilla, warm bourbon heat, dry oak tannins, and the faintest hint of a hop bite toward the end. This is very complex yet enjoyable. A bit raw still tho.

T - Starts off with a big dose of caramel sweetness quickly giving way to a mix of toffee, vanilla, dry oak tannins, and the ever present warm bourbon. The bourbon is quite strong and it could use a bit more time to mellow out. The finish is a mix of caramel sweetness and warm bourbon, lingering for some time.

M - Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Sweet, hot, feel with plenty of it lingering through the finish.

O - Pretty good stuff. It is still a bit rough around the edges, and it could use a bit of time to mellow out, but all the flavors are there for this to be great. Glad I made the track down to try it.

On cask 4 oz. taste at Iron Hill in West Chester, PA (where it was listed as "Bourbon Old Tom"), Clear, rusty orange with a trivial head and lacing. Aroma of intense bourbon, brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, orange, alcohol and mango. Taste of bourbon, brown sugar, mixed fruit, caramel and vanilla. Full and thick body with low carbonization. Very bourbon-like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an opaque caramel/ruby color with a thin tan head. Aroma is fruity with fig and nice bourbony vanilla notes. Flavor follows suit with great bourbon flavor but not boozy...almost a hint of chocolate cherry here. Mouthfeel is full and creamy with a roasty bourbon finish that drys with some oakiness...nice!

On draft at the Lancaster location. Appearance brown with an off white head. The aroma was bourbon, dark fruits, caramel, vanilla. The flavor was boubon, dark fruits (raisins, cherries), vanilla, oak, hot bourbon/alcohol heat. The mouthfeel was lighter than it could have been (steered clear from sticky sweet), somewhat dry (again not sticky sweet). Too much bourbon as most of these things are. Oh well.

On tap at Lancaster. What can I say? Hugely bourbonized, sweet vanilla and an absolutely huge alcohol flavor. It was pretty smooth, I’ll give out that...but still not that impressed.

Thanks, Adrian. Murky brown pour. Aroma of compote. Figs, herbs, bourbon, prunes, and yeast. Good.

Nitro at IH Media. Woody brown with a creamy beige head. Nose is oak, honey and faint bourbon. Smooth, medium body but not as whipped as the Porter. Taste is caramel, grass, vanilla, some apple and dry bourbon. I recognize the base beer with the bourbon adding a nice touch. Not the mindblowing transformation i experienced with the oak aged (brett) version but still very good. I was surprised this was on nitro.

On tap at Iron Hill Wilmington. Poured a hazy brown/ red with small bubbly beige head. Aroma was bourbon, vanilla, and wood. Taste was vanilla, sweet bourbon, a little fruit, and a nice amount of bourbon. They did not over do this like most barrel aged beers are. It was very well balanced and a nice brew to sip on at the end of the night.

On draft at the Wilmington location. Pours a dark hazy amber with a medium light beige head. Beautiful aroma of bourbon, vanilla, caramel and candied sugar. Taste of bourbon, vanilla, caramel and candied sugar. Very nicely done and Id give this a nod over the oak aged Tom.
