On tap at Capone’s. Pours out a nice mostly clear golden color with a small to moderate white lacing head. Aroma is intense and of grapefruit and pine hops, very nice. Good sticky mouthfeel. Taste is complex and an assault of hops, grass, pine, and citrus all come together perfectly with a slight malt balance, but nothing to take away from the hops. Once again a world-class beer from Russian River.

Great beer. Huge citrus/grapefruit aroma with some pine. Bitterness with bite but not unpleasant. No overt alcohol. Good maltiness backing.

tap at toronado and bottle that was 2 months old-maybe i need to have a fresher bottle of this ,but between the bottle and the tap sample, this beer was a very good ipa, but not great. on tap fresh at tornoado, this beer was a pine monster with a huge cascade/grapefruit nose. in the bottle, its a bit more subuded and malty. more citrus flavors out of the bottle as well compared to the tap. bright orange with a small white head. i need another fresh sample of this beer. decent for what it was.

Bottle. Can I move out to the west coast where all the great IPA’s are? This one was amazing. Poured a beautiful orangish color with a pillowy white head. Left lacing on the side of the glass as it went. Aroma was amazing. Citrus hops, pine, spruce, cloves. What a great IPA should smell like. A great balanced IPA. Sweet up front then bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied. Great hoppy IPA. I love this beer.

Pours out golden with tiny sediment floating all throughout the glass and topped with a dense, pillowy, white head from the 500ml bottle. Great head retention, great lacing. Powerful aromatic notes of pine, florals and sweet ripened citrus. Flavor notes of sweet fruit, soft herbs, chewy dough and just full-on bitterness all in one sip. Feels so fresh, and the hops taste so raw, lending itself to big time fullness, with a surprisingly light finish... close to almost no finish. Fine carbonation. This is a real treat. Drinkability: Wow. Perfectly balanced, and full of contradictions. Pairing: Perfect with a BBQ burger. Rebuy: Oh yes. #344 on 150302010, DG.

This is just a simple but classic West Coast IPA. There is a reason why Russian River has a cult following, when it comes to the style, they nail it and put out a style standard. Big hops on the front, smooth throughout, but still citrusy hops dominated like i like. This beer is so well made with the consistency from first sip to the end. I may be biased since i’m from sonoma county, but this beer is the goods.

On tap at Monk’s Cafe 9/21/09. Deep transparent orange with a bit of foamy head. Smells like sticky pinecones and citrus. Tastes like piney hops, well balanced between sticky and dry, if anything a touch too sweet. Makes me yearn for PTE.

This delicious brew offers a wonderful floral bouquet of fresh hops and grapefruit. It’s true that you taste with your nose first. Each sip shoots off signals to the Olfactory Bulb, where the brain translates this experience as pure beer awesomeness. A full on hop blaster, packed with bitterness, and citrus. Orange fruit pokes through as well. Not to be forgotten, a sweet malt layer says hello and disappears in enough time to create a great balance. Drinkability? God Yea, I could drink this everyday. Definitely a top of the class type IPA.

Draft at Monk’s for Russian River Day. Pours hazy orange with a thick, fluffy, two-finger head. Aroma is lovely; floral boquet of lavender and hops, with notes of honey, pine, soap, grapefruit, and anise. Body is fuller medium with a tangy, moderately bitter palate. Finishes slowly, with a nice clean burn down the throat and into the belly. Awesome IPA.
