Aroma has a light caramel and grainy note to it with a heavy grapefruit and pine hoppiness. Flavor is very strong in pine and citrus hops with a smooth, light caramel note to add some sweetness. Modest carbonation delivers the flavors well and allows you to feel the med/heavy beer. It has a slightly oily feel to it and the alcohol is noticeable. Overall the slightly rough hops note really works with the malt sweetness and the overly heavy pine and grapefruit are very pleasant. Good brew.

Nice citrus aroma with lots of grapefruit and orange, a hint of floralness, sweet honey and toffee and a little pine and ammonia. The flavor is agressively bitter and astringent with instense, biting pine and ammonia, some grapefruit and toast and caramel notes from the malt. Medium, creamy body with lots of carbonation. evr1dr (22), Virginia, USA

This beer smells of pine, alcohol, grapefruit, honey, hops and mint. Tastes of grapefruit, pineapple, malt, apricot, resin and grass. Perfume finish. williamherbert (590), Syracuse, New York, USA

Nice dark orange color. The sediment sits stagnant, floating motionless. Decent amount of head.
Strong, bitter hop smell. Great combo of woodsy and citrusy hops. Wonderful. Perfect sweet/bitter balance in the hops alone. Absolute dynamite.
An excellent bitterness overtakes this brew, completely whooping the sweetness’s tender backside. Lots of pine. Very apparent alcohol bite.
Thick. Kills the tongue but in a good way. Quite substantial. This baby is a one-n-done; delicious but far too bitter to repeat too much. mattmc1973 (330), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA

Aroma is heavy malt, and caramel sweetness, with citrus and pine hops. Sweeter than you would think for as hoppy as it is. Taste is sweet, with sharp hoppy afterbite. Lively crisp carbonation, with creamy mouthfeel. BeerFanDan17 (659), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA

The aroma to this beer is amazing. Resiny hops with that distinct sweet "cakey" scent that other Moylan’s beers are known to have. Taste is surprisingly smooth for the amount of hops, but there is quite a bitter aftertaste. A fantastic Imperial IPA. I’d prefer their regular double IPA because it is a bit more balanced. Cheers to fellow lickers of the Hopsickle! sfhodense (809), Odense NØ, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2010 Bottle. This beer pours clear and golden with a miserly head. Aroma of resin, grass and coniferous growth. Flavor is oppressively bitter, perhaps the most I’ve ever tasted. Thick malt backbone, very low carbonation, perhaps too low for me, and for this style. Very well fermented, no offensive flavors whatsoever. Very solid overall.
