Commercial Description:
This beer is brewed for those who appreciate the pure pleasure of the Hop. The malt comes through, but its not long before the hops take over! Aromatic, bitter and a bit strong, this beer graduated from the more is better school.

Tap at the brewpub. Orange, white head with decent lacing. Hoppy fruity aroma. Big hoppy flavors. Decent malt base. Hoppy finish, with some malt sweetness.

My bottle says nothing about buckwheat on it, just plain opa opa IPA. Almost sweet lemon aroma. Big exciting show when this bottle is opened and then poured yet it does not flod over. Strong as any IPA and on style. Bitter rude hop bite. Low levels of CO2 in the brew. Finish ios like I just got finished chewwing green grapefruit rinds with dish soap, wew. Oily sometinms. Big thanks to the little beer doctor for treating me to this sample, nice deal for what I sent her!

Bottle. Pours an amber toned body with a white head. An earth y with some light floral hop tones in terms of aromatics. Light and earthy with a bit of a dirty earth tone and some light bitter pine notes. A modest malt bill. An okay ipa.

Pours deep copper color with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, toast, juicy citrus hops and some slight earthy notes. Flavor is caramel, nice citrus hops, very juicy, and a bitter juicy hop finish.

Thanksgiving 2009 in western MA - shared a growler with FIL. This was a nice IPA that wasn’t too aggressively hopped. I had this beer a little warmer than normal, but it just made more of the flavor come through. I could drink a handful of these.

On tap at Cambridge Common, Cambridge MA, October 2009. Sold just as Opa-Opa IPA at 6.5% but I guess this is the right beer, as I don’t see any other IPAs from the brewery. Clear dark amber. Diacetyl in the aroma. More malty and grainy than I’d expect from an IPA (the buckwheat?). Very weak hop presence by comparison to the Ithaca Flower Power sampled just before. Not too impressed. Must try to get out to the brewpub to try it on home territory.

Semi-cloudy pumpkin orange. Nice color, no head. Dark earthy malt with a flowery and grapefruit hop aroma. Roasted rye-like malt balance. Really great scent. Toasted caramel taste. Burnt rye malts; almost stout-like. Decent, flowery hops. Thick and with a little fizz. A good, burnt flavor.

[bottle] Fresh grapefruit hops aroma with some caramel and a touch of lemon. Hazy bronze, with little dots of sediment throughout, covered by a thin white sheet. The flavour is a nice balance of bitter grapefruit hops, that come of a touch salty and, spicy caramel. Dry finish works well with the medium carbonation. Notes of pine and apricot. Light to medium body.

Pours a clear orange/copper color with a white head. Lots of pine on the nose with some hops and citrus. Well-balanced taste with pine, citrus and a bit of hoppy bitterness at the end. Very smooth and good beer!
