Flavor is fundamental but refreshing, with a rugged hops bite and a malt finish. Seems to be some lemony citrus elements in there. Rather simple beer but perhaps a good example of the pale pilsner style. BeerBlockaid (576), Jacksonville, Florida, USA

50cl bottle from the local. Pale yellow colour. Standard hoppy German pils but better than most. Nice malty undertones. Crisp, drinkable and refreshing. Let down somewhat by the aroma if you ask me but what do I know? porterhouse (1186), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2008 (500 ml bottle (bottled on "70 10") from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Pours clear very pale yellow with a tall, kind of stiff and foamy white head. Aroma of some honey, some pine, maybe a little bread and a light trace of skunk. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, dryish, pretty hefty for the style. Broken, patchy lacing. Flavor is mild honeyish malt with a bit of sourdough bread and a light piney bitter bite overlaying. Nothing great but a pretty good example of the style - no surprises. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 1, 2006 Hazy gold color once the sediment poured out of the bottle. Nice bright white head. The aroma is light with sweet and grainy malts. Flavor starts off as the aroma with sweet malts and grainy malts followed by a slight citrus or lemon flavor. Beyond midway the grainy malts appear a little stronger along with a surge of spicy noble hops. Really nice flavor. PilsnerPeter (2862), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2006 Pours a cloudy yellowish, with a white film for head. A pleasant smell of earthy, flowey hops. The flavor has a cookie like maltyness, almost biscuity, with a balancing herbal-hop character and a smooth dry finish. Clean, balanced pilsner. blueduk (118), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2006 This beer was on tap at The Bier Stein and I was excited to try it. I took a big whiff of my pint: vinegar. I had never ever had this experience there, and I thought maybe my taste was gone crazy. It is a tribute to this establishment that without hesitation they took my beer and poured me another at no charge. Of course, it was immediately necessary to buy a bottle (which they conveniently had in the fridge) and rate it at home.
Mahrs Pilsner pours a hazy yellow with a thick white foamy head which hangs around for a while before leaving some decent lacing.
The aroma is powerfully hops, as you would hope, with floral and grassy dominating with some lemon zing.
Some fruitiness in the malt backbone, but the hops continue to dominate the flavor profile. The perfumes are gone and the lemon is king of the flavor profile. Some grainy cereal malt flavors tag along for the ride.
This is a very drinkable pilsener with a full palate and clean crisp finish. One of the more lemon-centric pilseners I’ve had lately, but quite enjoyable. MartinT (5138), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 25, 2006 Impressions from the biergarten:
-The thick foam recedes to a ring around the clear golden.
-The smooth, full body, emulates thickened water after getting acquainted to it.
-Finishes with a mineral touch and shy hoppiness.
-Some hay converses with the fruitiness of pears and plantanes.
-Both beers on gravity cask here were extremely low in carbonation and ended in a watery, mineral note which suggested either a too hard brewing water, or simply the fact that they don’t handle natural carbonation as well as most Franconian breweries.
On tap at the brewery.
