Pours honey amber golden orangish with HUGE puffy off white head that looks good and holds long. Malty and doughy with hints of hops (smells more like barley wine than IIPA). Flavors pretty bitter with more malt than IIPA than expected; alcohol is hidden really well. Thick on palate Overall: good, especially for price (6 and change for 750).

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2010 This beer is an odd one for me too rate, as it has tasted very different to me on different occasions I have tried it. One batch at the brewpub I have had before had an amazing aroma and flavor of citrusy, floral, amazingly fresh hops, while another on tap at a growler bar had more of a simcoe, candy hop, medicinal flavor. Both were good, but I will rate according the brewpub tasting. beerbuzzmontreal (3034), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 8, 2010 I am no brewer, I have no brewing credentials; but I have drank a decent variety of beer, and it seems to me that RIS’s and DIPAs are two styles where it is hard to do wrong - pack as much flavor into the bottle as you can, and people will like it. And yet, somehow, I felt this beer fell short.
It was a cloudy orange color with a medium amount of soapy head that faded to little lily ponds of bubbles (pretty standard for a DIPA - although far more opaque than most). Aroma was quite mild, but was hoppy, although rather faintly so for a beer of this style. Flavor was over-done on the malty side - grainy and overly malty. A little too much malted milk ball flavor. Mouthfeel was a tad flat.
All-in-all a drinkable but not overly pleasant beer. I would not recommend. LearninBeer (221), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2010 Nice malty and hoppy aroma. Pours a brown/orange virtually no head. The taste is some sweet maltiness, hops bitter on the back of the tongue. Very nice! JaBier (1518), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 27, 2009 750 mL bottle shared by Kurt, but oddly enough not the same Kurt mentioned in Juelze’s rating. Cloudy orange pour with a medium off-white head. Sweet and grainy malt with some citrus hops. Earthy hop flavor with a sweet malt balance and bitter finish. Juelze (956), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2009 Big 750ml bottle shared by Kurt from Titletown. Pours a very cloudy copper color with medium sized cream colored head. Aroma is of citrus hops, caramel malt and some light pine aromas. Taste is citrus hops, earth, and caramel malt. Not bad but I prefer the hops to be more in the forefront. punkrkr27 (709), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 18, 2009 Amber pour with a loose white head. Very floral aroma balanced with grapefruit and caramel. The flavor is also really piny and floral. Dry yet sticky medium-full body with lots of carbonation. masonjer (579), Holt, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 14, 2009 Metro Tasting. Poured a cloudy orange. Aroma was sweet malt, light orange, and a little dirty to be honest. Taste was a bit dirty as well, some orange, straighforward malt. A little watery for a double ipa.
