Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Brown Ale, made exclusively with American ingredients, won Bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival in the Strong Ale Category in 1991 and in the American Brown Ale Category in 1992. Brooklyn Brown uses pale, crystal, chocolate, and black malts to attain a complex creamy texture. It is more heavily hopped than its British forbears.

The aroma has caramel, biscuits, hops, yeast, and chocolate. The appearance is red/brown with a foamy head. The flavor is a little underwhelming, it’s not bad but the bitterness dominates the roasted sweet caramel goodness that the style needs. The palate is smooth. Overall a nice beer.

[Tap] Pours a dark shade of brown. Very little head on this one. Sweet aroma of caramel, some hazelnut and vanilla. Taste is a bit more dry. Dusty grains, cocoa, toasted nut and a decent hop bitterness. Average body with a relatively high carbonation level. Quite enjoyable and highly drinkable.

Bottle 35,5 cl from La Maladière Centre in Neuchâtel (CH). Brown-red with little sparkle and fleeting foam. Nose of malt, brown sugar, hopped, back alcohol. Taste of sweet malt, walnuts, hints of chocolate, roasted, creamy texture and well-balanced. Finish bittersweet, always on the dark chocolate and walnuts. A beer reference.

12 oz bottle into my face. Malty sweet and slight hoppy aroma. Reminds me of a New Castle, except a bit lighter on the palate. Easy to drink. I would recommend this to others.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Deep brown with a tan head. Surprisingly hoppy aroma. Flavor is excellent balnace of grains with a fine hoppy finish. I usually find brown ales to be a bit plain but the hops in this kicks it up to a new level. I’m glad to see this in Michigan!

Clear mahogany with a thin tan head and a semi active body. Aroma of caramel, nuts and bready malt. Taste of malt, heavy nuts and mild hops. Somewhat acidic. Finishes up dry, nutty and metallic.

Bottle. Light to moderate malt note of dark bread, light resin and leather for the hops and yeast, with a hint of ripe fruit in the background. Head is small, between off-white and light brown, with some lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, a little slick with a lively carbonation and a faintly dry finish. Surprisingly good aromas, and excellent balance throughout.
