Sweet aroma of caramel, some hazelnut and vanilla. Taste is a bit more dry. Dusty grains, cocoa, toasted nut and a decent hop bitterness. Average body with a relatively high carbonation level. Quite enjoyable and highly drinkable. rand (100), Switzerland

Brown-red with little sparkle and fleeting foam. Nose of malt, brown sugar, hopped, back alcohol. Taste of sweet malt, walnuts, hints of chocolate, roasted, creamy texture and well-balanced. Finish bittersweet, always on the dark chocolate and walnuts. A beer reference. kazooka (54), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA

Reminds me of a New Castle, except a bit lighter on the palate. Easy to drink. I would recommend this to others. Onslow (207), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2010 Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Deep brown with a tan head. Surprisingly hoppy aroma. Flavor is excellent balnace of grains with a fine hoppy finish. I usually find brown ales to be a bit plain but the hops in this kicks it up to a new level. I’m glad to see this in Michigan! psuCE03 (127), York, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 26, 2010 Bottle. Light to moderate malt note of dark bread, light resin and leather for the hops and yeast, with a hint of ripe fruit in the background. Head is small, between off-white and light brown, with some lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, a little slick with a lively carbonation and a faintly dry finish. Surprisingly good aromas, and excellent balance throughout.
