Dark/black with a dense light tan head. Some earthy smells, dark roasted malts. Up front medium bitterness, slightly sour. full bodied, creamy mouthfeel with a bitter long lasting finish. Packaging looks fantastic. Very nice, will buy again.

Bottle at home, thanks dEnk! Pours a black, creamy, tan head that leaves quite some lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, cream and chocolate. Flavor is soft, creamy, bitter, roasted, some coffee and a bit sweet. Nice looking bottle.

1 pint .09 oz. bottle to snifter. Aroma is melllow chocolate malt cream and faint coffee. Appearance is thin water that is dark brown-black with minamal lacing. Taste has notes of coffee cream and chocolate and maybe oak. Palate is thin light and water with a dry finish. Overall a very drinkeable beer with out the american stout notes like thick and complex.

Pint bottle (2010) into a pint glass. The pour is black with a nice brown head. The is dusty dark chocolate and minerals. The flavor is sweet chocolate with a touch of roast, a hint of smoke, and a nice mix of cream. The mouthfeel is silky smooth. Could drink this all night.

Nice pour with a nearly black body and a full, tan, creamy, pillowy head which settles in time to a thin layer of froth and some tight lace rings. The nose is okay with buttered dark breads, some apple skins, bakers’ chocolate, and hints at bitter roast and toasted caramel. Flavor is nice with rich chocolates, bakers’ chocolate, buttery dark breads, almost raisin-like, lightly caramelly, and lightly roasty. The palate is fitting for the style with a medium to full, creamy, nearly lively. Finishes with still plenty of chocolate tones, more bitter from the chocolates and roast, and some buttery notes that linger. Actually fairly nice for an English beer, which I am not too fond of. Nice rich malt tones, very drinkable, and nice palate. Very pleasing.
