oh6gdx (44945) - Vasa, FINLAND - FEB 1, 2023UPDATED: FEB 1, 2023 Bottled (BBE 05/1991, thanks for sharing Vilho!). Deep reddish amber colour with a huge foamy off-white head, that leaves good lace. Aroma is sweet malts, some nutty notes, mild burnt sugar as well as some slight alcohol sweetness and plum. Flavour is dried fruits, sweet malts, nutty notes, some rye as well as burnt sugar and some mild alcohol tones. Quite nicely aged, although quite much on the sweet side of things.
Borresteijn (11296) - Heerhugowaard, NETHERLANDS - OCT 31, 2017Converting ticks to ratings. Had this back in early 2000's or so, at Café Gollem. 25cl Bottle. Dark brown beer, beige head. Sweet, malty, dark fruits, some chocolate, forest fruits. Medium bodied. I really enjoyed the Ciney beers back then, this was imho their finest, but wasn't widely available.
tderoeck (14777) - Gent, BELGIUM - OCT 20, 201610/IX/16 - 25cl bottle @ De Heeren van Liedekercke - BB: 24/II/03 (2016-1007)
Clear dark brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty sweet, caramel, pretty oxidized (obviously), some hint of chocolate, orange peel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, caramel, very oxidized, spicy touch, some orange peel. Aftertaste: sweet, oxidized, caramel, some cardboard, chocolate notes. Has aged very well. Still very decent after +15 years!
kevd193213 (995) - Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA - JUL 4, 2015Bottle. Dark brown pour with a medium frothy tan head. Aroma of bread, caramel, raisins, dark fruit and Belgian yeast. Medium body with a sticky sweet finish.
Alengrin (11018) - Gent, BELGIUM - JAN 5, 2015Old rating (and I won’t get a chance to re-rate as apparently it has been discontinued now). Heaviest and ’rarest’ of the three Ciney beers, with a deep burgundy colour and thick pale beige head; biscuit, caramelly malts, sweet with spices (liquorice), bit metallic, alcohol warmth in the finish. Not horrible, but not good either. I for one will not miss this.

blackmetal (249) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 10, 2012Standard Belgian except for that distinct caramel taste. Original while not a vast diversion.
