Niiiice. Pours a murky brown wit ha decent-sized half-inch off white head that fades relatively quickly into a creamy film. Fruity malty aroma, maybe asome raisins and a floral hop undertone. Deep, rich flavor of malt, subtle roasted notes ... slight citric acidity in the bittersweet finish. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a slight astringent quality and a touch of alcohol warmth. very, very good.

Pours murky brown with a chunky tan head. The aroma is dried fruit, abbey style yeast, cotton candy, spice, and a touch of booze. This beer has a full body with lively carbonation. The flavors are much the same as the aroma and balanced with a slightly bitter finish. This one certainly remains among my favorites.

Good head, dark color, a great deal of sediment. Aroma is cheesy, earthy, and slightly malty. Overall taste is AMAZING! Taste is bready, a bit of chocolate, nutty, slight molasses, a little spicy, roasty and toast as well. Aftertaste is toasty, buttery (not diacetyl though), fruity, and slightly phenolic. An overall sense of alcohol when drinking. Very fine carbonation.

Inky brown pour same sticky white head as 6 and 10. Very strong yeasty aroma. Flavors not as sublime as 6, of the two I actually like 6 better. Nice long finish.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours a nice, almost-opaque brown body with a long-lingering caramel-hued head. Smell and taste alike is Rochefort classic: figs, dates, raisins, dark malts, yeast notes, brown sugar. A very smooth blend, with an excellent palate. This is the most downright drinkable of the Rochefort series, smooth without beeing watery like the no. 6 tends towards in my opinion. Not quite up there with big brother no. 10, but a very, very solid brew.

Dark brown reddish, medium tanned head. Aroma of fruits, faint liquorice. Flavour is a creamy liquorice and fruit. Very full, both of flavour and texture. Very nice.

I first had this beer during my first visit to Belgium in 1998. Our hosts had a refrigerator stocked for guests-I had one and that was the start of my quest for anything Belgian. Now I finally rate it. Nose is chocolate, malts and sweetness-very understated. Taste is sweet, sugar candi, malts that have just been slightly roasted. Smooth body and eminently drinkable. World class. Not sure of the dating on this. L271212 08:23. What does this mean?

Bottle. Pours dark brown with an inch and a half of thick, cappuccino head. Lots of pulpy particles dancing around in the glass. Strong herbal aroma along with oak, cinnamon, burnt sugar and alcohol. The first sip is extremely silky and creamy with lots of complex caramel and toasted malt flavors. There is an earthy yeast character to the Ale with hints of herbs, cola and brown sugar. It has an incredibly smooth, warm alcohol finish and a subtle candied sugar aftertaste. Not nearly as sweet as it sounds nor is the ABV overpowering. I could see becoming a monk if I got to drink this every day.
