Commercial Description:
Saranac Black & Tan is a judicious melding of our classic irish stout with an all-malt german-style amber lager. The result is a brew that is hearty, pleasantly bitter and full of flavor, yet can be enjoyed bottle after bottle. Our unique Black & Tan has multiple flavor notes... you may enjoy counting them. Enjoy!

Bottled. Black and dark with hints at red with some tan medium head. Aroma is malty caramel burnt. Flavour is malty light artificial caramel, cardboard, with some hoppy finish. Long lasting taste in finish.

Pour from 12 oz bottle. Brown brew with aroma dominated by roasted malt. Flavor like a mild stout with flavor dominated by the malt and bit of sour, grassy hops in the finish. Meedium palate but pleasing mouthfeel. Not bad.

Pretty solid offering. Can taste the burnt malts, some caramel notes, hops are balanced out by the overpowering malts. Tastes a bit more like a stout, but still pretty good. Fairly thick mouthfeel, goes down smooth and thick. Good brew.

More a stout then a black and tan, this is just a few notches below guinness with similar flavors.

Third beer in a row that I ’ve had at a tasting over at Barrios house. These beers are all so far far borderline average. Mediocre. The black and tan pours dark brown/black. The head is pretty sticky but there needs to be more. Aroma is of light coffee, roasted malt. Tastes a bit bland. I want more of a dark or roasty flavor. This beer kind of just goes no where. And it has the same bitter stale finish that seem to plaque the rest of this beer line so far.
