25.4 oz bottle. Clear, deep garnet brown that kicks up some bone froth. Nose is sweet red berries, toffee apple and a touch of grass. Medium light body, a tad thin, with a faint tingle. Taste is caramel, orange peel and rose water. Bitter pithy finish.

Mar 13, 2010 If memory serves, this corked-and-caged 750 was from dchmela circa October 2008, had here mid-March 2010. Smells like a barleywine, that’s for sure. Huge, huge caramel notes, big but dulled Ami hops. Dark copper pour with a lacing, sudsy beige head. Taste is lightly bitter, lightly sweet, well-attenuated, though, some butterscotch. Faint plum and almost some ash in the back. Fully nearly-syrup body, aftertaste is moderately dry. There’s some good complexity here, and certainly some nice intensity, but it’s hard to rate this in the upper echelon, as I’m already tired of it after about eight ounces. Alcohol is well under control, at least.

Jan 18, 2010 April 2008 bottle. Caramelized grain aroma, this sample from the bottom of the bottle is murky and dark brown. Smooth and rich, little sharp alcohol, mostly creamy caramel with a waxy finish.

Jan 15, 2010 750ml bottle from April 2008. I’d heard this one was wicked hot to start out, and I’m glad I waited on it because this is a nice, mellow English-style barleywine. Murky amber pour with a medium creamy head. The nose is still rather sharp, with some hop bite and a touch of sweet heat. Toffee and a bit of molasses lead things off in the taste, which soon settles into a firmly malty BW with a nice mix between the brown sugar and the grit of the hops. Smooth and dangerously drinkable, I enjoyed this one.

Nov 27, 2009 750ml bottle acquired in trade with NachlamSie (thanks!). Poured a mdeper and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, some citrus, nutty, and caramel. Tastes of nuttiness, caramel, dark fruits, brown sugary, and chocolate. Alcohol content overall well hidden.

Nov 13, 2009 Bottle, thanks Mike! Amber body, white head. Nose is honey, older hops, a bit of malt. Flavor is honey malts, a bit of roast, cocoa, alcohol.

Sep 18, 2009 Bottle dated April ’08. Opaque ruby pour with a dense white head and good lace. Rich dark fruit aroma with molasses, sharp pine and wet oak. The flavor follows through from the aroma with a sweet honey finish. Sticky, medium-full body with soft carbonation.
