Commercial Description:
Brilliantly golden, Jasperilla is a unique take on an old ale. It has a complex yet subtle aroma - a blend of hops, citrus, and biscuity notes. Just the right amount of hops balances the mild maltiness and alcohol flavors. We named this beer after our dog Jasper because he has brought so much joy to our lives. And this time of year, we wanted to spread a little of that love and good will around. We got Jasper from a local dog rescue group called Forgotten Friends. He has been a constant source of laughs, smiles, and goodwill that kept our spirits high all the late nights and long hours at the brewery. While Jasperilla is only available for a short time, we are reserving the bulk of the batch for next year. So get it while you can. This old ale is so good and smooth that you'll beg like a dog for more, roll over for a belly rub, howl at the moon...you get the picture.

650 ml bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Vintage 2006. Pours a cloudy chestnut brown with a medium beige head that has very good retention. The nose is molasses and raisins. The flavor is overtly sweet with molasses, toffee, dates and sweet dark roasted malts. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is long and sweet with lingering molasses. Overall: A very enjoyable ale. Thanks Eric.

2006 bottle from ericandersnavy. Thanks much! Pours a hazy reddish amber with a slight beige head. Aromas of dark fruit and bread/toffee. Something like a dessert cake with spice. Near full body with moderate carbonation. Flavor is a bit aged, with lots of raisin/date/plum flavors, some caramel/toffee and enough hop bitter to offset the sweet a bit. A few more years and this might have turned into a Gales equivalent. There is a bit of heat. Good brew. Good old brew!

2006 bottle Pours with a ruby copper color with an off white fizzy head. Aroma of raisins, sweetbread, plums, cherries, blueberries. Flavor of raisins, plums, dark fruits, bread, bitterness. Decently syrupy mouthfeel.

2006 Bottle. Pours with a large, off-white, foamy head over a bronze body. Aroma of currants, rotting oranges, caramel, butterscotch, yeast, figs, raisins, plums, and sweet berries. Nearly cloyingly sweet. Taste is metallic, dark rotting fruits, bitter orange and not very good. Fizzy and dry. 9.3% is well hidden.

Newish bottle. Pours golden orange with a short lived head. Smell is sweet and fruity, candy like, and dried dark fruit malt, with an odd skunkiness perhaps. Taste is a bit sweet as well with a slightly syrupy fruity, raisiny quality and a cereal like sweetness to it. Medium body and carbonation. Just not that appealing to me.

Uninspiring beer that hangs heavy on the palate and has no great qualities. Aroma is good, but rather weak. The flavor wanted to be complex, but was dominated by malts and alcohol notes. Probably won’t try this one again.

.. pours a dark golden tan ... nice foam , leaves medium to full lacing qualities .. sweet, light bitterness ... sticks to the style quite well.. An Old ALe made in TX, for TX, meaning powerful enough but light enough in the mouth and abv ... enjoyable ...

(2008 bottle) I think I was a little let down with this beer. It had a gentle orange color with a head that just wouldn’t give up. The taste was alright, but it represented the old ale style well. Not done very often anymore.
