Commercial Description:
Moose Drool is our Brown Ale. Far and away the best selling beer brewed in Montana, Moose Drool is chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. Our brown ale is a malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma also mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spiciness being added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.

pours a dark brown with ruby tones in the light, a thin off white cap fades quickly. Aromas of chocolate, nutty malt and light hop. Roasty malt body, some choc and nuttiness, light bitterness makes the finish clean and balanced. Very good brown ale.

I wouldn’t recommend you try to tap fresh drool from a wild moose, so let the folks at Big Sky Brewery do it for you. Delicious ale.

From a can. Pours a cloudy brown with a decent, though dissipating, light tan head. Toasted grain on the nose, and even more so in the flavor. A little bit smokey, and really dry for a brown ale - there’s really not that much sweetness in here. Just a bit of a nutty note. Refreshing, and not dilute - it’s got a full mouthfeel - there’s really not much to it, but if that’s what you’re in the mood for, this fits the bill.

On tap at pour 24. Pours a dark brown ruby with a small frothy light tan head that leaves decent spotty lacing. The aroma is roasted malt with raisin and chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet roasted malt with raisin and caramel. Easy to drink with a nice dry finish. A good amber from big sky.

Interesting, leathery roast aroma. Clear, medium dark brown. Leather carries over in the flavor profile and attaches to a slightly homerew impression -- maybe a bit too thin, a bit too sparse. A little coffee and acid, thought diluted. I was a little disappointed -- not terrible, but meh. Tap, Flying Saucer, Kansas City.

Bottle pours brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma contains notes of chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of cookies and brown sugar. Overall body is moderate with soft carbonation. Starts sweet, and finishes dry on some nice earthy hops. Balance is very nice, making this one go down pretty easy.
